I recently participated in (T)error in the Skies with a small group of colleagues. This was my first escape room, but it did not disappoint. The room really gave off "Budget Airline" vibes, down to the bedraggled airline seats, mostly empty beverage cart and sticky pages of the in-flight magazine! Our host, Attic, was fantastic. The puzzles were challenging but not frustratingly so. The puzzles leaned more towards math and solving for correct answers than 'read between the lines' hints, but I thought the balance between the two was good. Other reviews talk about linear solves leading the group to have to all work on the same puzzle at the same time. That is not the case for this one, there were times that we were working on 4-5 different tasks at the same time, and other times that we were all working on the same task at the same time because we needed that many hands on deck for the specific problem. 10/10!!
Also, big shout out to Escape on Purpose for accessibility. We ended up at this venue after calling several other escape rooms and discovering that they were either unable to accomodate a wheelchair, or the person answering the phone was unsure how to answer questions about accessibility. When I called here Attic was knowledgeable, friendly and very up front about the potential spots that were not fully accessible. When we arrived Attic shared that they were planning a renovation soon that would eliminate the one barrier in this puzzle making it fully accessible. Speaking only to (T)error in the Sky, I think this puzzle could accommodate up to 2 wheelchair users at a time before it got too crowded, however, you will need at least one ambulatory player as some items are only accessible from standing height, and currently there is a doorway that has been narrowed to accommodate props/set that a chair would not be able...
Read moreFirst of all- I hardly ever feel the need to leave a review. This experience was one of the best hours of my life. We had a 6 person group (including a 7 year old and 12 year old) and had an absolute blast in the uncommon room. There were fun surprises at every turn (and in every nook and cranny). With the help of the host (more on him in a moment) we were able to solve the room with a whopping 5 minutes to spare. There was more than enough to do at one time to occupy a group, and the challenges ranged from intermediate/difficult to common sense.
We all were able to spend time interacting with parts of the room and engaging with fun mechanisms and often hilarious (the slippers) red herrings.
Of all of the wonderful parts of our time here, the one thing that stood out the most was the host. From the moment we walked into the building he made us feel so comfortable and truly welcomed. He spent the time to thoroughly explain the room and various mechanisms to us, and watched us dutifully and even gave us gentle (non spoiler) nudges when needed!
After we completed the room- he spent the time to explain the story to us ( which I love!!! And didn’t want to waste his time asking about) and allowing us to discuss parts of the room we enjoyed most. I really felt the love and pride he put into his space.
This was my first experience with an escape room, and I am so glad we did it here. While standing in the parking lot out group we’re arranging plans to come back and try other rooms at this location. I cannot stress enough how WONDERFUL our experience was, and I cannot WAIT to come back!!
If you’re on the fence about visiting, don’t think twice, this is worth every...
Read moreFun and engaging. Their rooms are well thought out and well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. One of the best escape room providers in the area. As you arrive you will get registered in their lobby. We loved the fact that they have a very friendly lobby dog their to great you. Once registered, your host will take you to your room and provide you with the details needed to start your hour long journey. The rooms are well maintained and I have yet to find a mechanism that isn't in proper working order. If you need help along the way, simply wave at one of the cameras and your host will flash a clue on the TV screen to get your team back on course. You have a total of 1 hour to get out of the room, but you can also try for a faster time to set a record for that escape room. Once you're done, you come out and discuss your experience with the host and take team pictures. They have 3 rooms to choose from, we have so far done 2 of the 3. I highly recommend reaching out and...
