I live in DC and had just moved out of an apartment to a Federalist Style Rowhome and was looking for a Dining Room Table that could be the centerpiece for a budding furniture collection.

Frankly, I have some struggles making design decisions as I'm not the most confident person when it comes to art, design and decoration. Evan made this process super easy for me and took a consultative approach and pointed me in some cool directions I hadn't previously considered.

Evan and I talked through a few options, and voila my table was underway! Through this process, Evan kept me up to date with pictures, explanations, and it really engaged the "craftsman" side of me to where I wanted to learn more about how this stuff can be done.

Once the table was finished, Evan himself drove up to Washington, DC and made sure that it found it's first home. Evan made sure he took his time to talk through a few details that the average Joe may not see on a table, and talked through care instructions to keep it looking its best as I intend to this table to be the last Dining Room Table I'll ever purchase.

The table looked and felt so good that I felt that threw and old school style dinner party just to show it off and give it a proper christening.

Since then, I find myself eating meals more at my table on as opposed to in front of the TV on those low energy weeknights where you find yourself just wanting to breakfast for dinner. It feels amazing that this table was made for me and was crafted in a loving and stylistic way.

If there were a way to create a pun and put the word LOVE in CRAFTSMAN, I would, but, i'm not that clever. But, Evan is someone who loves what he does and if you hire him, I think you'll see that passion instantly.

Evan Berding is a master craftsman, an incredible human being, and a joy to work with. I am a former custom furniture maker (or at least on hiatus) with very high standards, and chose to commission Evan to build a king size bed and a pair of nightstands for my wife and me from across the country because I admire his craftsmanship, ethics, and personality above anyone I know. We initially contacted Evan to make a bench for us based on pictures of an existing piece that we liked. Evan not only produced a beautiful bench, he creatively interpreted and improved the concept we provided to him. We were so impressed with Evan's approach that we also commissioned him to design and build two custom tables. Evan created wonderful original designs for these pieces. Each design was tailored to fit a challenging space in our home. Evan collaborated with us in the design process, including making several mock-ups for review and regular written communication.
