Update: I returned to Light Years and purchased two pair of earrings. The ones I wanted months ago were still there and after looking online and verifying that they were indeed hand-crafted originals, I decided to purchase. The people working there were just as patient and helpful as my previous visit. I laughed out loud at their fridge magnet collection which is just amazing. Please read the magnets and laugh till your sides hurt! Although I can’t afford a splurge often at all, this created such a fun memory for me and I feel pretty wearing my earrings. The other pair were simple stud earrings and in the design of tiny 3.5” floppy disks which I bought because that’s about how much computing power is between them some days as well as storage and they are a good conversation starter with humor. I would frequent this store just for the nostalgia and the laughs even if I didn’t make a purchase. And I wanted to write this update to let you know that, from my own experience, this still deserves highest ratings.
This is gem of a store! The people working when I shopped there a few months ago were well-informed and made it easier for me to pick out a ring that I liked and wouldn't have a metal allergy to. They were patient and even handed me a little woven basket from a stack of them for customers to use. The store was mostly handicap accessible with my wheelchair. The variety of funny, craftsy, unique, cause-driven (whether you agree or not isn't what I'm grading on) items is pretty amazing for this small store. I really do think you can find SOMETHING for almost anyone. My caregiver and I were laughing as we read cards, magnets, stickers, shirts and more. They do have awesome jewelry and lots of handmade jewelry in particular (for real, not stuff you can get other places - I checked out the artists online and they are entirely legit, and pieces are different). Although most of those pieces were above my price point, I understand that craftsmanship went into them and for those more financially situated, it would be a great find. The patience and kindness of the employees was refreshing. I would like to visit again. And I still really enjoy the ring I purchased, the first ring I've purchased in a few decades. Keep it up! You've got a good thing going! Very unique and full of...

The staff are always so nice and sweet! They’re very helpful and knowledgeable about all the metal types, metal allergies and what is safe for those with sensitivities. Staff here are always bright and make you feel welcomed.
The pricing on almost everything is very affordable! Read moreI am going to share a few things.
I used to love this store. 2019-2021 and before. It was one of my favorite stores.
Their variety and the staff was amazing and the prices were too and returns were easy.
I don’t know what happened since Covid. I don’t know if they got new management. New owners or what.
The only good thing about the store is it’s mostly all gay men and gay women and trans who work there.
The variety sucks now and they never update stuff. Good luck if you have to do returns cause they won’t and let’s say everyone looks either bored or like they don’t wanna be there.
Whoever the new owners are of this store you really messed it up badly. You made a store I loved sort of sad now. Let’s hope you don’t own the one on Franklin street too.
Mineralogy is now closed. You have no competition left in southpoint. That is the only thing...
