When I first moved to East Brunswick I went to Stop and Shop and it was a pleasure. However, things have changed. I don't know if it's a change in management. I am a Hispanic male and every time I go to the store I am being followed as if I am going to steal something and that includes the manager Barbara. The items are always priced wrong and then they act like it's my fault. Recently I went to the store and I know everyone is short staffed because of the pandemic however, it was about 1.5 hours before the deli closed and I went to purchase cheese. The deli clerk told me that he was the only one there and that he was closing alone and that he wasn't going to serve me.The sign posted on the deli clearly states the time and there was almost 2 hrs left before they were suppose to close. I politely said you guys don't close for another 2 hours almost he said sorry I am not going to serve you. I had to go to the manager Barbabra and she called him and told him to make the order. Barbara then proceeded to tell me that she was going to go get it for me when I heard the employee telling the manager he didn't want me to go back there. That would have been a great teaching moment for the deli clerk. However the manager seemed annoyed herself . Just the way it all happened was horrible customer service. Nobody apologized and everyone acted like I was an inconvenience. This is not the first time things like this happen. Needless to say I will never go back there. I am a member of the East Brunswick Regional Chamber of Commerce and I am a small business owner it is a shame to see the way these businesses treat their customers or should I say me. I will go spend my money where I am treated with respect. I will also make sure that people know the mediocre service you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis store seems like itās gone downhill in the past week. Thereās a strange energy shift and I canāt help but notice the absence of a star employee⦠Megan. Iāve been coming to this stop and shop for YEARS, and have always been greeted by name by this lovely person. One time, I was in dire need of store brand toilet paper (seriously folks, is the same as angel soft). Megan saw me pondering, and sprung into action. In a matter of a singular minute, she ran to the back and was able to get me the toilet paper. I asked another employee where she was, and with tears in her eyes she informed me she was transferred. What kind of corporate (excuse my french) baloney is this? Megan appeared to be the glue that held the store together! Iāve noticed lots of changes. And with this absence, I can tell people are upset. I love almost every single employee there, with the exception of a few who for some reason enjoy others misery. Megan was not one of these people. I intend to find out who made this decision and sternly tell them this was a terrible mistake. For the sake of the other employees who hold my heart, I will do you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMe and my mother stopped doing the grocery here after what happened at the end of July. For decades, we had minimal issues after grocery shopping. All of that came to an end when the store denied the check. Megan (the store manager) who approved its use for decades was not on duty that day. Instead, it was a customer service employee named Alice. She was mean and unprofessional towards my mother. I am proud of my mother for keeping composure in spite of her. The store required my father to come in, even though the last name on the check was the same. When my father arrived at the customer service, they still rejected his check. We were not even close in going over their check amount limit for grocery shopping. We felt embarassed, because a few people stared at us and wondered why we were standing there with two full carts of grocery near the customer service.
Me and my parents had no choice but to leave the store.
Overall, the whole experience was uncomfortable and upsetting.
