I was very disappointed in the service I received at this Walmart today. I brought my car for an oil change, not because Walmart is the cheapest, but because I used to always get my car serviced at another Walmart located in Fargo, North Dakota and loved the service! I recently moved to Jersey, although I have lived here for many years prior to moving to Fargo (So I am not a stranger to how this part of the world works).
Anyway, I called this department yesterday evening and was told there is a 1.5 hour wait time. This is quite understandable as evenings are usually busy, so I decided to drop in at about 10:15 am this morning and my car was the only one parked in the lot with another vehicle in the garage.
A person called Valentine took my order. (He was not wearing a name tag and therefore I later discovered his name through another employee). I asked him for a "high mileage" ($39.88) oil change and a "air filter" (~$12) replacement. He asked me if I need to change my vipers. Ummm... Isn't that supposed to be part of the service... to check my existing ones and let me know if I need replacement? Anyway, I politely said "No, thank you". I was quoted a time of 25 to 30 minutes.
I joyfully took a 30 minute stroll and came back to the department to find that my car was back in the lot. I went to the cashier to pay and realized that my car had been sitting in the lot all this time. Valentine then went in the garage and told one of the mechanics to take care of my car.
Again, I was quoted a 30 minute time window. After grudgingly walking through Walmart again I reported to the department at the time stated. Valentine was now replaced by Julian, who told me that he was a new hire. No problem. I peeked into the garage to see what the mechanic was doing and overheard him asking another mechanic "Where is the high mileage oil kept?" and the other guy was yelling "It is right there! On the shelf!". Ummm... Ok so I guess the oil change is still not complete.
Fifteen minutes later the car was being released down. I suspected if everything was done properly and therefore watched as the car was being pulled out of the garage. I noticed that the tire pressure was lower on one of the tires. I also opened the car and noticed that it wasn't vacuumed. I called France (the mechanic who worked on my car, who also wasn't wearing a name tag, by the way, nor were some other employees in the department) this and asked me to do the work properly. He seemed like a nice guy and told me that he will re-do the work. Another 10 minutes later the car was brought back to the lot.
I went to the cashier to pay for it and noticed that bill says "$39.88". Ummm... I guess someone somewhere in the department decided not to change air filter, although I requested for it, and not notify me. I suppose I should be thankful that they didn't bill me for it without changing it. I swiped my card, signed the receipt, and left promptly.
I looked at the service order and saw that everything was "checked". The tread depth on all the tires were "5/32", whereas one of the tires on the vehicle is fairly new. They also did not fill transmission fluid, Power steering fluid, and Differential fluid as it says "N/A" on the service order and it was crossed out in the department as well.
I am not satisfied by this service. For a $40 oil change from Walmart, I expect more than just a oil change. I expect the following, as promised for on Walmart's website:
• Add up to five quarts of oil • Install new oil filter • Lubricate chassis (when applicable) • Vacuum interior • Wash windshield exterior • Inflate tires to proper pressure And fill: • Transmission fluid • Washer fluid • Power steering fluid • Differential fluid And check: • Electronic battery performance • Air filter (except vans) • Wiper blades • Headlights • Signal, brake and tail lights
I certainly recommend staying AWAY from this Walmart's Tire and Lube Center for your car services. Thank you...
Read moreI had a 6pm appointment for 1 tire replacement. I received call at 2 that I needed to come in sooner because they were closing at 4pm. It was a Sunday, they were supposed to be open until 7. They said if I came in a half hour they’d do it in an hour, so I went. Checked me in, again said it would be an hour. After 1h15min, I come back and ask for an update. They didn’t even take my car and there were “people ahead of me” so they would take my car in at 6pm. It’s 4:30 now. I would not have driven in early if they’d take my car at the exact same time anyway. What a waste of time, but they did the same thing to 3 other people. A lower level employee made the calls, and his manager, Andy, was unaware he had done so. They said they couldn’t work any faster and would waive the $18 service fee. They ended up giving us just a $25 gift card. But the real kicker, after all that, they finish my car, drop the keys at the desk, and the manager Andy walks away to put some products back instead of giving me my keys when I’ve now been waiting in this store for 3 and a half hours!! I felt like I was garbage, and of course my car wasn’t drivable or I would have left. DO NOT GO HERE. Instead, there is a Mavis tire in East windsor not far, please go there if you want to get a job done. Anywhere but...
Read moreOrdered some tires and got a great deal by buying online. Tires were nearly twice the price in store for the dame make model and size. Had Wal-Mart do the install. Ive heard horror stories about having any repairs dine at Wal-Mart. The tech seemed old school and appeared to talk the talk so I decided what the heck...do it up. Took forever waiting for the first two people to be helped at the counter. When it was finally my turn the guy working the counter was so slow to input the info and maybe even had a cigarette break while he ran outside to check a few things with my car, plate #, and mileage...that took about 10 mins!..?! But anyway he finally comes back in and then accidentally deleted all the info he Took forever to input. By now everyone on line was moaning and mumbling some mean things under their breath. I stayed calm to allow the guy to feel calm enough to do it all over without losing his mind. Once that part was thru the install tool about an hour for all four tires. Its been about a week and so far no issues. I'd go again for tires not repair cuz I work on my own car...just not...
