Value for money, nice service, authentic taste
Our recent family dinner at Vatan in East Windsor was an enjoyable experience, highlighted by some standout dishes that truly brought the flavors of India to our table. Here's a detailed review of our meal:
Manchow Soup: This was undoubtedly the highlight of our dinner. The Manchow soup was super delicious, with a crispy texture due to noodles and robust flavor that set the bar high from the start. It's hands down the best dish at Vatan, and perhaps the best Manchow soup I've had in the US.
Veg Hakka Noodles: These noodles were a delightful surprise, capturing the essence of Indian street food perfectly. The flavors were authentically Indian, far surpassing any other Hakka noodles we've tried in the States. If you're a fan of street-style noodles, this dish is a must-try. The true Indian style sauces and chilli 🌶️ vinegar was a perfect add on.
Modi Sandwich: The Modi sandwich was a hearty, heavily loaded creation filled with potatoes and paneer. While it was tasty and flavorful, its jumbo size made it a bit challenging to manage and eat. However, the effort was worth it for the burst of flavors it offered.
Vatan Thali: The Thali was a mixed experience. It started with a variety of appetizers, followed by an assortment of curries, khichdi, rice, ras malai, seven chapatis, and raita yogurt. While the quantity was generous, the taste was average compared to the other dishes we tried. Both my wife and I found ourselves unable to finish the Thali, despite our best efforts. (We are not Gujarati hence that could also be a factor for us not liking the taste so much. This thali is Gujarati cuisine based)
Service: The service was OK – nothing exceptional but satisfactory enough to complement the meal.
Overall, the best parts of our dinner were definitely the Manchow soup and Veg Hakka noodles, which we will...

I recently visited the Vatan counter at the Philadelphia Expo Centre during an event, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of a disaster. I can't help but express my utter disappointment and concern regarding the overall quality and management at Vatan.
First and foremost, the prices were absolutely outrageous. I was shocked to find that they charged a whopping $64 for just three snacks dishes. It's clear that they're charging customers according to their mood rather than reasonable pricing standards. This kind of price gouging is unacceptable and leaves a sour taste in one's mouth before even taking a bite.
But the pricing was just the tip of the iceberg. The food was a major letdown. I ordered only three snacks dishes, hoping for a satisfying meal, but what I received was a tasteless and bland concoction that resembled nothing close to authentic cuisine. The flavors were nonexistent, and the quality of the ingredients left much to be desired. It's disappointing to see a restaurant claiming to serve quality food fall so short of expectations.
The management at Vatan was also in disarray. During my visit, the entire team appeared overwhelmed and disorganized. Customers were visibly frustrated and many were yelling at the staff. This level of chaos only added to the unpleasant experience.
I sincerely hope that the owners and management of Vatan take these comments to heart and make serious improvements to their establishment. Customers deserve a fair and enjoyable dining experience, which Vatan is currently failing to provide. It's high time for Vatan to address these issues and work on delivering the quality they promise to...
Read moreI visited the restaurant the first time and like to review in detail so as to leave scope for improvement for owner. Positive: Nice little place. The Vatan Special Thali was very good. Not tasted other foods.
Negative: 1. In Thali, the alternatives were four roti or two Bajri roti or three vedmi. It is useless to have offering of three vedmi in a $ 17 thali. The offering should have options for mixing roti, bajari roti and vedmi. Never came across such single offering. We ordered three Thalis, some of the different items were not placed in two thalis, meaning the cook forgot to place some of the items. We ordered one Mango lassi, which was delivered in glass bottle with soft drink straw, from which it was impossible to suck lassi. A bigger sturdy straw is must for using with thick lassi. My son could not drink the Lassi because of the above reason and when we wanted to take the bottle while leaving, we were informed that they were reusing glass bottles after washing and so not allowed to be taken out. Unbelievable even to think of it. The frame of wall was tilted giving very bad impression of the premises. There was no privacy being a small place and one group of having 5-7 persons was making extremely loud noise and which was very disturbing and owner never requested them to behave properly. No fork was provided on table and not enough paper napkins were placed on table. Only one spoon and one paper napkin was provided.
I am writing this details so owner can improve the overall service so we all can enjoy some...
