I am no expert, but I do know my way around a mini golf course the way my boyfriend knows the way to the chip aisle at Stop and Shop. That being said, my experience today at Poit's Mini Golf had the charm of an uninvited raccoon showing up around cake time at a sweet sixteen. Ignoring the boiling heat, and the resulting desperation to cover my sweat stains at the cost of the accuracy of my mini golf putts, Poit's lacked the charm of a small town mini golf course, while simultaneously missing the bright lights and flashy attractions of a more high end mini golf arena. Perhaps I could have overlooked these insanely dull putts if it had not been for the brazen rudeness of the proprietor and his staff. Further, with no shady spaces to scroll on Instagram in, in order to stave off the boredom of this mini golf course, you are forced to stand in the blazing heat as if you are auditioning for country western film. If, and only if, you are looking to leave feeling both bored and generally offended (not to mention drenched in the unpleasant kind of salt water), can I recommend visiting Poit's for an afternoon...
Read moreThere is something truly magical about Poit's Miniature Golf. From the seemingly supernaturally blue water which flows out of mystical white pvc piping and throughout the rest of course, to the way it can turn a 77 degree day into the feeling of trekking through the Sahara desert, it is impossible to deny the curse they must have cast to construct their establishment. For just over two hours one is invited to take part in a challenge of human willpower and test the effects of heatstroke on ones ability to putt 18 uniquely repetitive holes. However, the most magical part of the day was when we were forced to concede defeat and instead took part in the detailed replication of what the Greek goddess Persephone must experience every spring when she finally claws her way out of the depths of hell. For $9.50 a person, this test of willpower and heat resistance will surely leave you running...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I took a spontaneous getaway to Cape Cod and stumbled upon Poit's Lighthouse Mini Golf—and we’re so glad we did! We initially stopped just to grab a snack and stretch our legs, but the charming, welcoming vibe completely pulled us in.
After devouring some delicious hot dogs and pizza (seriously, way better than we expected!), I playfully challenged him to some arcade games—and then mini golf. Let’s just say, we fully embraced our inner kids for the next 90 minutes! The mini golf course was fun and well-kept, and the arcade was great for all ages. We left full, sun-kissed, and smiling. Such a perfect little detour!
