Chocolate Cafe — Restaurant in Eastham

COVID review: I admire their approach to safety but OMG we stood outside a door waiting for one party to place their order and get their food - for approx fifteen minutes. They paper up the door so you can’t see what’s going on and no one comes out to say “sorry for the wait we’ll be with you in 5-10 minutes”. Two groups of people behind us eventually left. That’s sad because businesses like this need customers these days.

The ordering system could be fine-tuned greatly. For ex we didn’t need to walk inside and have the entire place to ourselves just to order two coffees and a breakfast sandwich (while others wait outside). We also didn’t need to stand inside and wait for the food to be made - keeping others from ordering.

Once you get past the wait - The breakfast sandwich was amazing and so was the frozen mocha and baked goods! I hope to go back and get some of their...

If you want a good latte, DO NOT go to this place. I went to get an iced latte with oat milk and first of all, they gave me an iced coffee, not a latte, and it was the most watered down and flavorless coffee i’ve ever tasted. It was room temperature, there was barely any oat milk, and it was 80% water. As everyone knows, a latte is milk with a shot of espresso. There was no espresso, it was just watered down coffee with a splash of oat milk. Truly awful. Also, the sign outside was misleading. They say that they have “breakfast” but in reality, there was only one breakfast option - a breakfast sandwich. Nothing else. I had to go to a different place after to get something to eat. Finally, the barista was rude and unwelcoming. No smile, and a snotty tone when speaking to me. The place is cute on the inside but the coffee is horrible and the food options are...

Wait time was long... about 30 minutes for 2 grilled cheeses and a breakfast sandwich. Cashier also took down wrong size for my mocha, but gave me the correct size after I pointed it out. But my mocha tasted almost exactly like my wife’s espresso (no chocolate flavor). The short rib grilled cheese was great but did not have a lot of meat. Roast beef grilled cheese was just OK. Breakfast sandwich was good.

Overheard them say to another family that they don’t have many seats inside because they’re a takeout place, but they didn’t have takeout menus.
