Unfortunately, my family and I did not have a good experience at this restaurant. We went on a weekend night, and the restaurant was about ¾ full. Overall, the service was absolutely atrocious. It took quite a long time for the server to come to our table to take our order, and, once she did, an even longer time to receive our food. The personality of the server was quite distant, akin to a robot. She was not pleasant at all. My wife ordered one of the soups, which, although it should have come out right away soon after we ordered, took almost a half hour to arrive; although the soup had a nice, clean taste, it did not match its description in the menu at all. Once the server realized we still had not received our main meals after much more time had passed, she hurried to the kitchen – we believe that she had not given them our meal order, as the food came out almost immediately, way too hot and obviously made too quickly. The taste of the noodle dish was quite bland, and the entire dish was over-sauced. My salad was completely covered with the avocado sauce in a hurried fashion, which unfortunately ruined the dish and made it mostly inedible.
We have been to restaurants with worse service, but the servers were much more personable and apologetic about the slow service. On the other hand, I have seen bland servers who gave great service. But to have the worst of both worlds is a terrible experience, especially when we have a preschool-aged daughter with us who is very hungry and trying to be patient with the rest of us. Looking around the restaurant, there were several other tables that were complaining about the slow service and the taste of the food, which, although that made me feel better that our table was not the only one who was victim to this poor service/food, I was still very disappointed at our overall experience, our first and probably last one, at the...
Read moreYou guys, I cannot. I REALLY wanted to like Bangkok House, especially because my experiences at Siam Garden have been A) not as delicious as I hope,d & B) way more expensive that I'm down for, but this place is just not doing it for me. In fact, I'm blown away by some of the reviews about this place. Like, we must have totally different tastebuds, because this is some of the worst Thai I've ever had, period.
I got the Pad Bai Holapa, thinking it sounded a little bit like my beloved Ka Prow, but... I didn't even eat it. I had about three bites, asked for the rest to go, & promptly threw it away when I got home. The chicken was undercooked & creepy, such that I couldn't bring myself to chew & swallow it without gagging, & even if the chicken had been better, the dish was underseasoned & bland. I'm not big on sending things back, so I just ate some of my boyfriend's food (which was fine but not great), & vowed never to return. Ever.
We were there for about 20 minutes, total, which tells me they probably didn't even have time to cook that damn chicken. Which is exactly how it tasted.

Read moreMy friend and I had the flounder fillet special with vegetables. Although I could tell it was not flounder, and probably cod, it was delicious. We loved the variety of fresh veggies that were in the dish, kept heated by a small candle and silver casserole. From the outside of the restaurant, it looked as if it were converted from a diner. Inside, however was a beautifully decorated restaurant with lovely wooden tables, outstandingly elegant table cloths and runners, topped with glass, authentic lantern lighting and wonderful costumes that the waitresses and hostess wore. The lavatories were old but kept clean (I would suggest they install hooks inside the stalls for pocketbooks for the women). We were served at a good pace and the staff were all gracious and pleasant. The restaurant is conveniently located just about a mile or so from Monmouth Mall so after dinner we went Christmas shopping, and the stores were empty by 8pm on a Saturday night. We plan to return to this restaurant with...
