Aruba Sun and Spa — Local services in Edgewood

I got an acne cleansing facial done a few weeks ago by Brittany. The facial went amazing, no irritation, nothing. It was when I left, two days later, my face broke out in what looked like tiny barnacles or pustules. My skin felt like alligator skin. It was dermatitis. I freaked out. I am getting married in a few months and was reading horror stories about facials gone wrong. I called them and the front desk told me they didn’t know anything so they had to refer me to the skin department. I got in contact with I believe Brittany and she basically told me it was probably just irritated and “purging” after a facial (I understand this is a real thing). However, this was not purging, this was my skin reacting poorly to whatever product was in the facial. She didn’t seem to care that I was stressing and physically hurting. She offered up a sorry apology at the end of the phone call. Luckily I have a coworker who is also an esthetician and she recommended hydrocortisone. I then emailed Aruba Sun and Spa TWICE to ask them to send me an ingredient list so I know what made my skin react poorly. No response, nothing. I didn’t even get any kind of warning my skin would react in any way after my first time facial (she was made aware this was my first one). I have been a guest at this spa since it opened many years ago. Amanda is by far the best aesthetician I have ever encountered. A unique experience every time. She takes pride in her work. I enjoy the facial every six to eight weeks. My skin has a youthful appearance. I cibtribute all of this to Amanda. Quartney is my massage therapist. I have a lot of health issues; and after a session with Quartney, my body feels invigorated. The spa itself is quiet and relaxing . The tanning booths are the best by far. The energetic , happy and professional team are supervised by Heather. I am greeted by Ashley, Jordan, Brittany and Natalie .. These young woman are eager to please all your tanning needs. I've been going for a few years now for wax services. I did have one negative experience last year but it was handled well (I believe it was due to an inexperienced esthetician, but the issue was resolved no problem). The owner(s) care about the customers. I can't share who my wax person is because she books up very quickly 😉 but she is always friendly and personable, she is speedy but professional and gentle enough.

The remodel in the esthetician area is A1, and it always smells sooo good.

The only thing I would change is although I have been a customer for years, I was never told there is a loyalty program.

Also, I wish there were reiki (or similar) offered services...
