Iâve been a customer of Uptown Cheapskate for YEARS and have always had great experiences with them at this location (and also when they used to be in Bel Air). Today, one of their employees, Caiden, really impressed me. Caiden truly went above and beyond my expectations; he was very observant and responsive to my needs. He offered to hold onto the clothes until I was ready to try them on, making multiple trips while being efficient with his time taking care of other demands. When I was ready to try them on, he was ten steps ahead of me, he already unlocked the dressing room and moved some of the clothes in there. When I was ready to check out, he reminded me to use my rewards account then helped me to save money by explaining when to use my points. Since they didnât have bags, he even held the door open for me and offered to help carry it to my car. Caiden was OUTSTANDING, all while being very polite. Itâs rare to find someone in retail go the extra mile, especially when itâs stressful and exhausting, but thatâs exactly what he did. He went the extra mile to make every customer in that store feel valued. By far the best interaction with any employee in the years of going there.
Now, more generally, my experience over the years: As a seller, expect them to be highly selective without paying you top dollar. I wouldnât recommend selling as a way to make money, but to clear out the closet while earning store credit for your next purchase. As a buyer, expect to find the CUTEST things for a great price. Always expect to spend more than you intend to! This store has been a blessing. Better prices than Goodwill and without a doubt WAY better items, too. Lots of brand name or designer clothes/shoes/accessories that look (or are) brand new, without breaking your budget. Thereâs something...
Read moreWould not recommend selling at this location. I'm giving them 2 starts purely because the store is always clean and the displays are organized in a logical manner but other than that, I don't have many good things to say about the Bel-Air location. As other customers who left reviews have stated, they give you absolutely ZERO money and they always seem to come up with some excuse as to why your items can't be taken. Everything I've ever taken in there has been in very good condition, freshly laundered/folded neatly, and has been a recent style (recent being last 2 years because this is what they tell you they're looking for.)
The last time I went to sell my items, I took in a brand new Kenneth Cole purse that retails at $95 and the tag was still attached along with the paper stuffing on the inside. I also took in 2 huge tote bags full of clothes and they offered me $25 cash for the items they were taking. I asked to see them first before I decided I wanted to take the money and the items they were taking were an under Armour hoodie, under Armour sweatpants, under Armour shorts, a brand new pair of nude pumps, and the Kenneth Cole purse. All of those name-brand items for only $25??? The only reason I was even selling the clothes is because I've lost weight and can no longer fit them but they were practically new. I asked if I could take the purse back and I told the guy (I believe he is the manager) that I knew it would change the amount they were offering me but that I didn't care. He took the purse off and the amount only went from $25 to $20...CRAZY! Just beware if you are...
Read moreI spent a lot of time prepping clothes, an hour round trip, and waited 45 minutes while I was there just to be told that they don't take blankets :/ so I was like uh blankets? She said yeah the Raven's blanket... Uh that's called a scarf.. They didn't even look through the box, everything was exactly as I gave it. She said they were being very picky and only taking things that were bought at the mall in the last two years and that they are being really picky about jeans. So when I came in the day before to ask the hours that they were buying clothes, they should've told me that then so I wouldn't waste my time and gas. She said I could bring fall items back as it gets closer to fall. I told her I wouldn't be wasting anymore of my time on this place. UPDATE: So I decided to try one more time when I had some "mall" clothes to donate. Again spent time prepping the clothes, made sure they were clean, in perfect shape and neatly organized. I stood there and watched them go through it. Some Aeropostale and American Eagle shirts and jeans and a few other things. They did actually go through each thing piece by piece. Then proceeded to tell me they didn't want any of it. So I told them about how on my last visit they told me about only wanting items from the mall so that's what I brought this time. Then she says well most of what you brought was from Aeropostale and we don't take anything from them! Talk about frustrated!!! So DONE with...
