H-E-B — Local services in Edinburg

HEB is a Texas institution like Whataburger is in the State. In the RGV to buy your food you go to Wal Mart or HEB. The Rio Grande Valley use to have more choices with IGA supermarket branded stores which were eventually put out of business. Sprouts Market Garden grocery will appeal those who like organic, non GMO products similar to like Whole Foods. But because of that HEB years ago introduced Central Market, an upscale food store that was created to compete with Whole Foods. The only problem is that they're located in the richer larger cities of Texas like San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Houston. But that didn't stop HEB from sharing the store brand of Central Market with their HEB stores. At this location, you'll find a lot of Central Market products which are for sale among their HEB brands as well like their Hill Country Milk is where you'll also find Central Market milk as well for sale. Because this store is on a side of town that is nicer, the store has more items, selection, and brands that you won't find at other locations like the HEB on Closner. Both locations at Closner and at this HEB on Freddy Gonzalez are always packed. This one has a larger deli, larger liquor and beer section and this goes for any other types of foods as well. Larger organic, non GMO products across the line. Similar to their Central Market stores, Whole Foods and Sprouts. But then again that's the trend, so you'll find more organic products as well at Wal Mart. But I trust HEB's poultry and meat because I've had a lot of bad experiences with Wal Marts meat/pork/poultry section. Each HEB is different in their offerings depending on the areas...

FOUND A SLUG IN MY STRAWBERRIES WARNING!!! Please Read Before you Buy H-E-B Strawberries!

Today, I went to H-E-B on Freddy Gonzalez Dr. to buy groceries. I picked a strawberry from a batch that didn't look very good, like the ones nobody wanted. Everything seemed fine at the store, but when I got home and opened the H-E-B strawberry pack (the one that says "Fresh Strawberries"), I found a live slug inside. Just so you know, slugs can carry a nasty thing called rat lungworm, which can make people really sick. It can infect your brain and cause stuff like headaches, neck stiffness, vomiting, and even worse, it can make you really sick or even cause death.

I called H-E-B to talk to a manager, but the manager wanted proof that there was a slug in the strawberries, like I was making it up for just $3. But my concern is not about $3; it's about the health of the people in the area. We trust companies like H-E-B to do the right thing, but all they seemed to care about was having proof for a small refund.

I was disappointed because the manager, a lady working at 7 pm on a Tuesday, said I should bring the strawberries back to the store so they could send them somewhere to check if they were really contaminated. I couldn't believe it. I was still going to have to prove it, while the other strawberries stayed on the shelves, and someone else might get sick. That's just not right, H-E-B!

So, I'm writing this to warn people not to buy those strawberries because they might have rat lungworm, and it could be...

Although this heb is 3 minutes from my home , I always tend to avoid it , the lines are long and you usually just see managers standing and not offering to help . Well I knew what I was going for which was to make an Easter basket for my son . I grabbed some Easter eggs that were $1.98 that were placed at the entrance at the store . And made my way to look for a Roblox gift card after looking through every aisle and even their gift card section I only saw a pack of 3 $10 . Also their selection was very limited , I decided to just place everything I got back and my goal was to head to Walmart , like I said the lines in this specific heb are long . I only needed to put the Easter eggs carton back which were at the entrance of the store when suddenly the car locked hitting my belly and causing my son to jerk back . I was confused and thought the cart had gotten stuck when a manger yelled ma’am . He then proceeded to look at me like I was guilty in silence and didn’t even say anything or explained why had happened . Only after I asked why It did that, he then questioned that if I had gone in and gone out and I said yes I was looking for a specific Roblox gift card which they didn’t have then he looked at me like I was lying . This is the most unusual interaction I’ve had with anyone especially a manager ,why would I even consider stealing in top of that a Easter carton and in top of that when I have my 5 year...
