Honestly, if you read half the reviews of this place, you might be scared to go, but, my wife and I went and we'd go again. The place does feel a little old. The building feels old and it shows when you look at the ceiling and it's air vents. I wouldn't call the seating the most comfortable at all but I've seen worse. The food is pretty basic...Tex-Mex. They gave us chips and a sopa to start off. The chips were nice and hot...not too oily. The salsa was also warm and tasted fresh, not too spicy but not watered down. The sopa had a nice flavor to it and was definitely eaten. My wife ordered herself a caldo Tlalpeño and I had fajita tacos with enchiladas. The food I would say is average. My wife's caldo had plenty of cheese, avocado, and chicken...but was lacking in the presentation. My wife enjoyed her caldo but it was nothing extraordinary. I would say the same for my tacos. Honestly, the meat didn't feel like actual fajita. The meat was cooked well but there was no BANG when biting into it. The tortillas are hand made so that was a plus. The enchiladas were good...the rice and beans were lacking. The rice felt a little hard and the beans needed maybe a little more salt or a touch of lard...yes, I said lard, for flavor. I'd give this place 3 stars...but my wife went on a different day without me and had their mole...and simply raved about how delicious their mole is... So I'll give it 4 stars. If you go...get their mole, my wife definitely recommends it.

We picked up dinner from here while visiting my in laws. They were very excited to share this experience with us, but maybe we’re too picky. My husband ordered the beef fajita botana platter for four. It comes with a side of rice, beans, tortilla chips, guacamole. As you can see in the picture. It’s a large foil dish lined with tortilla chips covered in cheddar cheese, topped with beef fajitas, chicken and mozzarella quesadillas. If you like Tex-Mex, you’ll like this. I thought it would be authentic Mexican food, which means no yellow cheese, but it wasn’t. Everyone seemed to enjoy it with no complaints. I don’t care for greasy food so I just ate the fajita with the delicious flour tortilla. However, my husband said he absolutely appreciated the great service at the front counter. The lady was very courteous and made sure that his order to go was perfect and the order was filled accurately.

Normally this is a five star for me but the price was outrages this time. $17.99 for a buffet plate and that does not include a drink. With a seven dollar tip bill came out to $55 for two people. I remember being as low as $28 for two people. It’s just a local Mexican restaurant. Mind you the food is delicious but come on…… rice, beans, soup, etc…not worth $17.99. I remember prior to the epidemic it was at least $11.99 or $12.99 per plate. Maybe they’re trying to make up for the loss but come on the people are hurting too. The picture of Taco Ole from a distance Is me saying goodbye in my rearview mirror. So long Taco Ole you’re too expensive!!

My complaint is simply this, management needs to be more transparent on their Facebook promotion of specials. On 3/15/25, they posted Botana specials. When we arrived Sunday afternoon, we first asked the waitress and showed her the advertisement, she said she was going to ask. She immediately came back and said, the special is not offered on weekends, but I responded by saying the advertisement was posted on Saturday with promotion, there is absolutely No mention of which days the special is offered, so I went to ask at register. The lady said Yes you can use the promotion, but you need to purchase 4 drinks for Botana for four. There is also no mention of this on their Facebook promotion. We were a party of 3 and she said we Had to buy 4 drinks regardless. Which was ridiculous, one drink would go to waste. Now, question to management, why not mention the required additional purchase and days of promotion? This is truly a bait and switch practice. They got us into the restaurant, with their non transparent Facebook post, then told us the promotion was not valid and required us to make additional purchase. My recommendation is as a customer ask before you are seated, to avoid having a unpleasant experience and sticker shock! And before you say if I can't afford this I shouldn't be dining here, well not the point. Point is restaurant is tricking and deceiving its customers into...

I had the worst experience ever at this location in Edinburg. The pictures on their Facebook page are hyped up. I got there around 1230pm for lunch and they were out of enchiladas. So I waited around for them to bring a fresh tray and to my surprise they were cold. Rice and beans had no flavor. They offered tortillas then came back and said they didn't have any corn tortillas. Their flour tortillas were cold and hard like they had been made a week before. What I think was carne guisada was all fat and hardly any meat and the gravy it was in was a gray/yellow color. Their flautas had very little filling and fried more than crispy and also room temp. Their caldos de res and pollo had been sitting their for a while and mainly just veggies. I dont know if their ac doesn't work because they had fans going on. I left a comment on their Facebook page and they blocked me.. shame on them for not stepping up their game and getting mad for leaving a comment/review. I would've given them a second chance on their menu items but not anymore after they blocked me. Shouldn't be...
