I strongly advise you to seek care at a different animal hospital due to the negligence and irresponsibility demonstrated by this clinic.
My dog received care here from 2019 until 2024. While there were some minor issues during this time - primarily with the front desk staff, inexperienced technicians, and ineffective communication - I felt comfortable with Dr. Liu performing my dog's first dental cleaning since he had performed my dog's neutering and had experience with him under anesthesia.
On the day of the procedure, my partner arrived to check in our dog and was unexpectedly told that our dog would have to receive certain vaccinations before the procedure could begin. I was at work during this time and received a call from my partner about this. This was incredibly frustrating because I had already called the clinic the day before to confirm that everything was in order. It wasn't until I forwarded the vaccination records, which I had sent months earlier, that the clinic then proceeded with the check-in process. If not for this, my dog would have received unnecessary vaccinations, or we would have had to reschedule the procedure.
The main issue, however, came after the dental cleaning. When we picked up our dog later that day, we received no clear update from Dr. Liu or his staff regarding the procedure or discharge instructions. The front desk simply brought our dog out to us and checked us out.
A couple of weeks later, we noticed that our dog was whimpering while chewing on a toy, and when we went to investigate, we noticed what looked like a small hole in one of his back molars. Long story short, we found out that this was a slab fracture, which is a very uncomfortable/painful fracture where the nerve is exposed. When I requested my dog's medical records from the clinic, I discovered that this was noted during the exam, yet never discussed with me. They also falsely charted that they provided me post-dental discharge instructions and informed me of this fracture.
This is extremely negligent, as this sort of fracture must be addressed promptly since it can become infected. By failing to provide me with this information, they left my dog at risk for developing serious complications, including a life-threatening bloodstream infection (i.e., sepsis), that could have been devastating.
When I called to speak with Dr. Liu about this, I found his response to be apologetic but entirely unhelpful as to why this miscommunication happened. I am an ICU nurse and am very familiar with medical charting; I addressed that while his staff can help with aspects of medical charting, it is ultimately HIS responsibility to ensure that it reflects his assessment and to do his due diligence to ensure his patients receive the care...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a semi feral cat (Tiger) that was sick and I wasnāt sure what Dr. Liu could do for him since I didnāt know if he ingested something bad or just what was wrong. Nor did I know how he would examine him since Tiger has never let me come close to him. When I brought Tiger in as a walk in Liv (vet tech) was exceptional. She used black thick gloves at first to handle him but he was calm enough so she handled him without gloves. She wasnāt scared nor did she mind the fleas on him! Iāve been trying to give him an oral flea medicine but was not successful yet. Long story short: the vet techs got his weight, temp and heart rate! Then, Dr. Liu was able to examine him and did not add on a bunch of tests which would had cost so much more. He told me what he could do (antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications) then if he didnāt get better to do blood work next time. I was so grateful. Extremely grateful that they took care of him even if heās a feral cat. It took me 1.5 days to trap Tiger to take him to the vet. Good veterinarian that doesnāt trick you like others Iāve been to. They even applied the flea medicine I brought....
