My family is a 20+ year AT&T customer, and I had an emergency yesterday - of course, at an inopportune moment while at work. Unfortunately, my phone accidentally fell onto a gas station parking lot, and I did not notice until half an hour and 20 miles later. I retraced my steps and could not find it, so I worked in Elgin until the AT&T store opened, and I was their first customer of the day. Two things were fortunate: 1) That I was long eligible for an upgrade, and 2) That Timm and Adriana worked with me against the odds to recover my data and load it onto a new iPhone 14. These two were friendly, understanding, and very professional, and they endured two hours working with me, trying various methods for accessing my iCloud backup, and assisting me to try other methods suggested by an AT&T tech by telephone. We honestly weren’t sure we could pull it off, but they stayed the course, cheerfully, and we got through it virtually to the end. It was certainly inconvenient to pay over $150 yesterday, but, in retrospect, it was a small price to pay to resolve a disastrous mistake. Timm made it as convenient as he could with a B2G1 accessory offer and his handy knowledge that facilitated our success. In my last few minutes in the store - restoring my crypto wallet - the second customer of the day came in. She was looking for something specific that, unfortunately, the store did not have in stock. Adriana delivered the bad news, and that customer erupted in profane chastisement as she walked toward the door - it was the kind of language and rhetoric only spoken in seedy dive bars, isolated construction sites, and naval vessels. To her credit, Adriana remained calm, appeared unaffected, and simply apologized and reminded the woman that such language was useless and unnecessary. Now, Timm and Adriana’s knowledge was not perfect, but they had everything we needed to get me up and running again. Adriana had tried to explain to me that I could not use the new phone to locate my lost one, because we had transferred my iCloud account to the new one. However, this did not make sense to me, and I saw clues during the restoration process that indicated to me that each phone has its own identity - regardless of any iCloud account. Sure enough, once back on the road, I used Find My Phone to see both my new phone and the lost one on the map. I simply drove to the location, looked around a few minutes, and found my lost phone, smashed a bit from being run over a few times. So i changed to att, i go to another country and surprise i dont have free roaming i did get changed $12 a day for roaming plus what ever data i use is extra, i opted out and i got a wopping no data at all, called att and got hangup twice i chat and i got told it was a misunderstanding that i had no roaming only to pay 12 a day or put it airplane mode so i dont get charged if i didnt want to. It took me 2 days to realize that i was being charge without requesting the services. I wasn't sure what to do so I asked if they could help me with an acct and how to set up a new one. Asked him if he could show me was told their internet is really slow. We were the only customers in there so they weren't too busy to help. He Received a personal call and answered it and stayed on the phone with us standing there trying to get help. So unprofessional!
