You know how you are always looking for those last few gifts for people you really have a hard time buying for at Christmas? Well, I never had been to Kohls Elizabethtown KY before, but I had a few of those very last gifts to buy Christmas 2014, so I decided to run by there and check them out. I found a few, and at checkout the cashier asked if I wanted to apply for a charge card. I really didn't want to, but she explained that if I did, and agreed to forego getting a paper statement and go for an e-account I would receive a huge (30% if I remember correctly) but a substantial amount cash back in the form of rewards bucks for opening an account. So, what the hey right? To good to pass up. I took all the register information she provided to set up my online accounts (you have to set up 2 it turns out, first 1 that accesses your online shopping and rewards program, then you can set up one that allows you to access your credit account ). As I set them up I carefully wrote down all the passwords, security questions / answers in the notebook that I have for just that purpose. Time approaches for 1st payment: I log into my onllne kohls, then my credit accunt. When I click on make a payment, it takes me back to the login page. And suddenly, my password/email is incorrect. For days, I reset passwords and do all the other various things the prompts tell me to trying to pay my bill. On the day my payment is due, I call customer service to find out why I can't access my accunt. End up having to pay over the phone, and as you know, have to pay extra. But he gets me into my account. Feb, month goes along, payment date nears, same scenerio. Mar, the same. I go off, If they can't figure out the glitch in their system. I should not have to pay a fee, right? April comes, I can get in,,,,,my bank account information is there, inputted by the CS agent in Jan (they don't accept debit cards for payment, online or on the phone). I make my payment, print my confirmation, and 3 weeks later receive a notice (the only one) via postal snail mail (though my account is totally e-based, right?) that my payment was denied because my bank account was fraudulent. (I am over 50 and have had that account since my teens) $35 late fee, but okay, maybe I was crazy, imagining the payment confirmation in front of me. Set up my bank account information again (they deleted it since it was a fraudulent account). Their system verifies everything, and I remake the payemnt, print off the confirmation. A week and half later, kinda wondered, checked my online account, guess what, they canceled out the payment again, and charged me another late fee. So I call (horrid, horrid automated system, it asks for the same information over and over, and expect a wait time of never less than 15 minutes, and hold times during the call of up to 10 to 25 minutes). The agent sets up my account and I make the payment a third time,,,,we are in May now. During break the next days I noticed I had numerous missed calls from what turns out to be Kohls finance dept. I try to return the call, but I only get 2 - 10 minute breaks and 30 min for lunch and can be fired for having my phone out on the floor. But I managed to get a guy at lunch, who says my payment had been declined due to fraudulent banking info. I get a litte irate. I give him the lil time line I have given you above. He going to check on it,,,they are going to call be back when I get home at a time we agree on. I get the call, appearantly they don't keep notes, because the lil girl on the phone demands THAT I PAY. Theres alot...
Read more2025… here again despite my desire to not be! I was gifted a pair of shoes for my toddler that are one size too small. I went into the store to exchange them. They didn’t have the size up in any color variation. I asked if they could order them for me to exchange them. They said they don’t have the ability to order ANY merchandise 🤯 I had to return the shoes without a receipt at a $5 loss. That’s insane! These shoes were already paid in full. I should be able to do an even exchange if they’re in stock online. This store is a straight scam. If I ever find myself in a situation like this again I’ll just donate the item. What a waste of time and money and a shame the gift giver and myself both basically lost money. 🤦🏻♀️
2022 at Black Friday they couldn’t get our $120 gift card to work without calling customer service. She said this was common during big holiday sales. We got towels and our total was $101.68. She told all of this to the customer service person over the phone. She then swipes the gift card again and said, “There is only $18.32 on this card.” We did the math and that’s what was left after the customer service person ran the transaction over the phone! We ended up arguing with the manager about this for around 30 minutes. I was not going to let them steal the gift card I was given at my baby shower! Finally the manager decided to just credit the transaction off totally and kept the gift card and had us leave. So essentially they stole $18.32 from us, what was left on the card they took and threw away. It’s been 9 months and the towels are so poorly made they’re falling apart. We have a lot of towels in rotation so these are not subject to the kind of use or washing that would cause this extreme wear. Our “cheap” towels from other stores have held up through the years without any kind of issue like this. I didn’t write a review sooner because I decided to just let it go. But now I am...
Read moreI like shopping at Kohl's. Prices can sometimes be high but it works out of you use all the discounts and Kohl's cash. I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know. Their discounts and rewards are complicated and shoppers there will just drop stuff wherever so the store is a little messy, but that's not because the workers aren't always cleaning because you'll see them all over. Makes finding the right size jeans a bit tough. They do have a decent app and online store so, after finding the right size for your kids or yourself, you can order more online if needed.
There's in store pickup to avoid paying shopping if you need to. They have toys and appliances and household stuff too, so a bit of everything. I usually use them if I need a cheap, nice looking suit. This trip I scored some deals for myself on clearance (cheap) and some new jeans for my 14 year old (more expensive) but was pleased with the shopping experience.
Sometimes you'll go there and feel like you got some deals. Sometimes you'll think you spent a little too much. You'll almost always check that receipt to try and figure out what your discounts and rewards did. You'll almost always forget to use the Kohl's cash before it expires. (I plan on giving mine to my wife and telling her what day to go to the store or we'll use it online.) Even with all that, it's a pleasant experience. I'll definitely shop at Kohl's for the holiday season for some gifts with shop to home or in store pickup. It's faster than in store shopping during Christmas.
I feel like, again, I've not said anything you probably don't already know. It's a good store and...
