The amount of disorganization and lack of respect my fiance and I received from this business was inexcusable. We were recommended to this place by everyone local bragging that this was the best place for our needs and how they offered a "grooms experience." Our first meeting in Elkhorn store was not enjoyable at all; not only did they not offer a "grooms" experience, it seemed as if they didn't care about our needs or wants. We were specifically looking for a completely customized suit for the groom, FOB and FOG in tweed. Tweed is not readily available and not their speciality but they did have a fabric we liked. We went in for measurements November 17th and we felt like that wasn't very exact (for a custom suit we expected more measurements and questions.) We left with no confirmation, paperwork or knowledge of how much the suits for anyone would cost. When we tried to follow up with multiple phone calls we never received a reply. January 21st we returned to the store with our 4 groomsmen to get their measurements for their rentals. The employee had no knowledge of our wedding, paperwork to see what suits they were getting or know how to properly measure any of the gentleman. The next day we called the store to find out when our custom suits would be in as our wedding was about 6 weeks out. The employee had no information to offer. The owner called us on his personal phone a few moments later to let us know "he had a tracking number and the suits should be in any day" guareenting us his word and assuring us we had nothing to worry about. He ended the call letting us know he would follow up with us the next day with an exact date they would be in but did not. Fast forward to 2/6 after calling the store to no answer, we decided to stop into the store and see what was going on. Again, no knowledge of our suits, wedding or reassurance as to when anything would be in. The employee ended up putting the owner on speaker phone, where he apologized and offered a lot of "reassurances" again about how everything was fine. When we continued to press for a date as our wedding was less than a month away, he told us a story about how the company changed fabrics the first of the year even though we had placed our order back in November. He was saying anything and everything to try and save grace but we were rightfully scared nothing would come in on time nor were we sure it was even ordered. After ending the call we asked for details on the groomsmens suits, and again were greeted with no knowledge. A newer employee had shared that she had just been hired because there was multiple instances of disorganization in the weddings and "papers going missing." Leaving after an hour of talking with no real answers for our wedding. Later that night I received a call from a knowledgeable employee running a different location who reassured me that the groomsmens suits had been ordered and she would be taking over the account. Sleeping on that we decided we could not leave our wedding in the hands of the owner Kyle so how could we trust any of his employees new or not. We had to scramble to find a custom suit place that could accommodate tweed in the next 2 weeks and groomsmens suits. Luckily we did find someone else. When we called JR Roberts to cancel the employee sounded happy about us cancelling. I then received a call from the girl employee "who had taken over our account" trying to rectify the situation with discounts after 4 months of bad blood. My fiance then received a phone call from the owner who left a voice message that sounded scripted and unnatural apologizing but at the end of the day missing the mark where he ended the call rereferring to me instead of my fiance. Not shared, all the unacceptable behavior, long nights worrying and many more details that make the place an inexcusable place of business. Unsure how they have 5 stars as I'm not the only one with a horror story. TLDR: DO NOT PUT YOUR MONEY INTO THIS COMPANY THAT DOESN'T CARE ABOUT...
Read moreUpdate 6/25/25: My husband is now apart of a wedding party going thru this company for rentals. He just text me informing me he is very annoyed as more is being done for him now with items and fitting then what had ever been done for items for our wedding and he was the groom. Very disappointing that his items were not handled for our special day like they are for this one. STILL would NOT recommend as it seems hit or miss with this place!
Original Review: Elkhorn location--We went with J Roberts for rentals for our wedding as everyone has gone with them in the past. Our wedding was in late May. We went in late January or early February and at that time we were told by the owner the only thing we needed to do was have the guys come in and get sized for jeans (blue jeans) so they could get them ordered, that was the only thing they were worried about. The owner then said we could come back a month before the wedding for everything else. We opted out of ordering jeans as they were around $100 a pair for the blue jeans, and we were trying to be savvy with the cost of things for the groomsmen. Flash forward to a month from the wedding, and we asked the guys to start going in to get fitted. One of our groomsmen went in and the lady working was a tad rude to him and shared she could not fit him at that time as there were too many variations on fits of vest and shirts (the only item the groomsmen needed). This was due to the groom not picking out the vest and shirt, no mention of groom coming in before fittings was said before otherwise we would of. I contacted J Roberts the next day as there was going to be another individual going in before the groom and the rest of the guys went in and asked if there would be a problem, that person said no. Once the groom picked the items everyone else was able to get fitted and items ordered. They were promised the items the Thursday before our Saturday wedding. The groom went in and picked up his and our son’s vest, shirt and suit jacket. Our son’s shirt was too big, so it had to be fitted again and fixed. My husband’s vest and suit jacket weren’t even close to fitting. They shared that they would have my son’s and husbands’ items back in the store on Friday. My husband went on Friday and picked the items up. At that point his the grooms suit jacket still didn’t fit properly, after having 2 fittings done. The cost was also a huge red flag. My husband and sons came to about $450 but they were able to keep their shirts and vest and had to return the suit coats. Our son is 3 and my husband reported the cost of his stuff was the same price as a...
Read moreDo not recommend this place (Elkhorn location). Had nothing but issues with most of our tuxes for my wedding. Tailor / staff was rude and felt like we were bothering them (one exception: Dylan - guy was awesome to work with and attentive, but unfortunately he worked at a different location).
One of the main reasons we chose this place was due to a promotion – rent 6 suits/tuxes and the 7th one is free. They tried to charge us multiple times for the 7th tux and claimed that promotion hasn’t been around for 18mos (it was posted on their website and we went in 6mos ago and confirmed).
Fitment Issues: •Father of Bride: Pants were too short – high waters (tailor said it looked great). •Groom: Vest & Pants too big (tailor said both are adjustable and looked perfect). Wedding day: had to adjust vest so much it bunched in the back. Pants were just the wrong size (36-38 & I wear 32). Jacket (too big, tailor said it looked fine…wife confirmed it was too big and had to go back for size down). •Best Man: Vest & Pants too big. Again, tailor said everything looked great. •Groomsman 1: Vest & Pants too big. Again, tailor said everything looked great. •Groomsman 2: Jacket sleeves way too short, said they would correct – all they did was get a larger size and the sleeves were still short. Groomsman’s wife asked if they could tailor the sleeve length to fit? Store clerk just asked if she was going to buy anything. •Pocket Squares: Majority of the 6 pocket squares did not match. Different shades and materials…White, Champagne, Beige, Off-White, etc. (cotton, silk, polyester). Didn’t notice until we were all standing for pictures and pointed out the differences.
Not sure what he point of getting measured was - probably need a new tailor. Best advice I can give, if you’re getting married and need a tux – buy your own and have it professionally tailored to your fit. Get it done right. If not, save yourself the hassle and do not rent from J.Robert’s in Elkhorn - they just want you in/out with no fine...
