My wife and I stopped for breakfast this Sunday morning. They were busy but had several open booths and a large round table unoccupied. We came in after a group of 4 and were waiting to be seated. The waitress told us there was an open booth so my wife and I sat down. That's when we heard a loud commotion from the front by one of the people in the group of 4 stating loudly how it's first come first serve. The wait staff stood in a circle and pointed fingers in our direction, stating how the other group was there first. My wife was upset by how we were being treated, and mentioned how the other customer in the group of four rudely stated "It's called a line". That's when we got up and left. We are Elkhorn residents and have been to the Elk many times over the years. This was our LAST visit there. There are many other resturaunts that we can choose from. We had a wonderful quiet breakfast at the LAKEHOUSE resturaunt on Hwy 67 after we...
Read moreMy family and I were visiting from out of town and after reading the reviews we were excited to check out this diner with “small town vibes”. Unfortunately that was not our experience as we never made it to a table. The man that “greeted” us never made eye contact and was extremely rude. We had eight people in our group and he said that he didn’t have a table big enough. I told him that we didn’t mind splitting up and he responded with “well I’ll let you figure that out”. The entire time he was rushing around with a half empty diner acting like he was too busy to stop to help us. We left and went to the restaurant on the corner called Someplace Else, which I would highly recommend. They had good food and the staff was very friendly. I guess you have to be a local to get the small town service at...
Read moreMy husband and I stopped here for lunch on Friday. We had eaten at this restaurant previously over several years. The owner and employees were always hospitable. The menu offered a variety of home cooked food. There was a soda fountain that served delicious ice cream desserts. The restaurant had a steady stream of customers. However, we noticed everything had changed. New owners, new menu, new look, and a new attitude. Our waitress treated us as if we were an inconvenience. The food was mediocre at best. The prices were higher. The lunchtime crowd was gone. The restaurant was in need of refurbishing and cleaning. At the end of our meal, we paid the bill and left. It is so sad to see what was once a successful business crumbling before our eyes. Suffice to say, we...
