Mar Vista Liquor — Local services in Encinitas

2am, yup, that’s when they close and when most of North County bars really closes before that, this is your last chance to get anything for an afterparty. Being from Oceanside, I’m used to having more liquor store options available, but when it’s 1:45am beggers can’t be boozers, I mean choosers.

It’s pretty visible from all around and shares it’s parking with a few other places so parking can be iffy, but not at night. As with any liquor store in San Diego, they stock a solid amount of our craft beers. They have a slightly heavier whiskey selection than most and lighter selection of vodka, that is to say they don’t carry much of that whipped cream caramel red velvet vodka your girlfriend is looking for. While most of the more North liquor stores stock more bodega items, this is liquor store only. I can’t speak on their wine or bubbly selections as I drink neither of those after dark except maybe in a French 75 or Kalimotxo.

This is one of my favorite places to go, open late and the selection is amazing. The staff is friendly, funny and knowledgeable. The white guy at night with the beard is quite the vibe and was able to help us make decisions and seemed to know where everything was had no problem stopping what he was doing and helping us. Just popped in again. This place rules. Right by the beach. Has everything you need. Stuff you prolly don’t need. And everything in between.

Shoutout to my boy Tommy. He holds this place down like Fort Knox. Usually they have South Park on and they didn’t this time - game changer for me. Hopefully they’ll bring bring it back but still 5...
