This place had a cool beachy surf vibe and came highly recommended by locals. The food portions on our breakfast burrito were ginormous... however the flavor was very bland and the salsa wasn't very flavorful. Very few pieces of ham or green peppers and mainly filled with fluffy soggy egg. The menu seemed to have some great items that I wish I would have ordered instead of a breakfast burrito. As I walked by some of the customers who were dining in on the patio the acai bowl looked great and the person eating it seemed to be happy.
The wait was not worth the lack of flavor. However if you just want huge portions before or after some beach time this is a great spot.
The staff made me feel rushed when ordering which sucks for me but I'm guessing it is a mostly local's spot and me asking questions about the salsa and other things they asked is either annoying to them or out of the norm. We also had to wait down the street after we ordered as it was packed and masks and social distancing weren't being enforced.
On a good note they are a dog friendlier establishment and many people had their pups with them while dining, ordering, or waiting...

Then they bring the food to you. Indoor and Outdoor Table Seating, and a Counter along the Front Window (looks out to the Street, but the Ocean is visible to the Left). Free ice Water (Bottled, Self-Serve from Dispenser). Full Coffee/Espresso Bar outside, next door (to the Right), with Acai Bowles & Smoothies, and Real Ice Cream Milk Shakes (order & pay separately, however if you give them payment inside, they are more than happy to place your order for you, and have it brought to your table). I tried all the Breakfast Burritos, a couple of the Egg Scrambles (they come with Home Style Potatoes with Melted Cheese--YUM!), and a Cheeseburger with Fries (homemade and Really Really Good!). All were cooked perfectly, presented well, and the portions were very generous. (Only negative was friend ordered a Cobb Salad, and she thought it was "tired" -- so I wouldn't recommend that) I will definite patronize Pipes Café when I'm...
Read moreI stopped here with a friend and our babies after walking on the Cardiff rail trail. I’d driven past this cafe before but never stopped in. I’m so glad she convinced me to try it!
The food was outstanding. I ordered a number 5, which is a breakfast burrito which has eggs and potatoes in it. The staff was able to accommodate my request for modifications (no eggs, and adding cilantro). It was delicious and the pico sauce add just the right amount of spice!!
The inside is so cute, with surfer vibes but a very positive and relaxing energy. The staff is extremely friendly and upbeat. We didn’t even wait 5 minutes before our food was ready, which is crazy because the line was out the door!
The bathroom is super clean too, the whole place seems to be up to par in terms of sanitation, which is always a relief. The table we sat outside at was also very clean and the umbrellas offered a nice shade, which was nice because we both brought babies under 1.
I am so happy that I found this place, I already loved the rail trail for walking and now I have a new favorite place to grab a bite...
