Great. Awesome! I was visiting Cardiff by the Sea, CA staying in the San Elijo beach campground on the other side of Hwy 101. I wasn't really feeling like cooking and all I had to do was walk 2 minutes to Lourdes and get some excellent, filling, tasty Mexican food. Everybody there was super friendly including the manager. The music was great! On my first day in California, they were playing oldies at Lourdes and "Hotel California" was playing ominously as I ate my Veggie burrito, which was generously heaped full with rice, beans and veggies! For breakfast, I recommend the chorizo and egg burrito accompanied by progressive Mexican rock like Mana and Café Tacuba. Okay, so the food is ordinary So.Cal. Mexican fare, which is a good thing...it is very good and filling after surfing, cycling, or just bumming on the beach all day. Most everything is less than $6 after taxes and it is tasty and spicy. Right. But what makes Lourdes great is that it is a brand new restaurant, it is super clean, it has great surf inspired art work, the music is really good, the people are nice, and you always get chips and salsa with your burrito. Go there. You...
Read moreAverage mexican food. There were only two people eating inside the place when wife & I stopped to order takeout on Sunday afternoon. Wife ordered two taco combination with only beans ($9.59). I ordered mole plate with rice & beans ($8.49) with one flour tortilla. Also ordered chips & salsa ($3.69). Mild salsa was bland and tasteless. Sonora salsa was good but really spicy hot. Mole was flavorful. Burrito sized flour tortilla came with mole plate. Food was a tad slow coming out. Once we got home we noticed that my wife's order was wrong. She got rice only when she repeatedly told the cashier she wanted only beans with her tacos. Total for our order, including tax, was $23.46. Employees were not wearing masks. I never observed any staff person clean the repeatedly touched public counter (Where customers pick up their orders). There were two tables inside that seated four people. Otherwise, you take your order as a...
Read moreMy friend and I ordered two tacos and a California burrito from here. The food smelled good and that is pretty much where the positives ended. The carne asada was chewy and flavorless, more like regular low quality steak. My burrito was at least 40% tortilla, and they use frozen french fries in their California burritos. The guacamole and sour cream was all in a single pocket in the center of the burrito, and just about the only flavor that was coming through was overwhelming, but not tasty, salsa fresca. Further, on the tacos, the carne asada taco was tasteless and the carnitas taco was the opposite; it was so salty all you could taste was the salt. We didn't even finish half before stopping and literally going to a different taco shop. I'm really not sure where the positives rating for this place comes from because there are many better options all around Encinitas. Oh yeah, and they were out of all but one of...
