I have been sending family support remittances to Burkina Faso (West Africa) since 2013. I have used Citibank, Transferwise, XE, WorldRemit, Walmart, RIA, and now Sharemoney. Except for Walmart, where I have to show up in person to use the service ALL have eventually stopped allowing me to use their services. I assume that it is because of US Treasury directives, but it is impossible to find out, and most of the customer service/fraud agents I've dealt with have gotten really pissy when I've pressed them on it. I've even hinted that maybe it is Treasury that's causing the problem, but gotten no confirmation. It could also be something as simple as not providing the correct identification documents. With ShareMoney, on the other hand, registration was straightforward, their rates are variable but low, and I get near-immediate confirmation of the deposit into the recipients account. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that ShareMoney doesn't shut me down as I have another 4 years of school payments I've committed to. ShareMoney also has one of the most intuitive user interfaces. Month-to-month I send the same dollar amount, but for other occasions -- school tuition and equipment fees, etc. -- I have to enter the amount in the target currency, which then gets converted to the dollar amount I'll be charged, with the transfer fee added to that. So it is very convenient. And the receipt is very clear and detailed. I highly recommend ShareMoney for transfers...
Read moreHave been using Sharemoney since April 2020. Have been quite satisfied with this company. Then in November 2023, they decided to cancel three of my transfers. Again in December 2023, they cancelled another transfer. i have wasted hours on the phone calling up to get my money refunded. And them telling me that it is coming soon. And usually within a month. After five to ten calls and literally hours trying to get this straightened out, the one that was cancelled in December was finally reimbursed in March. Have called up three times since then. It has been 5 months now and i just called yesterday. Well, i am told that it has been sent to my bank and they want me to send my bank transcripts to show that i have not received the money. Then i am told that a manager will call me back. This is the third time that a manager was going to call me back. None have called back. They sure are quick to take the money, but when it comes time for reimbursement. They are lacking. Well, this is the last time i will do business with them. Western Union has been good as well as TransferWise, now called Wise, and i will be using their services from now on. i am so tired and frustrated with...
Read moreThis is the strangest company I have ever dealt with. I tried sending money directly to my bank account in west Africa. The first few attempts went well and they blocked my transfer asking me to prove where the money is coming from. I provided my bank account showing that what I am trying to send is just a fraction of my monthly salary. I provided my bank statements anyway. Then they saw two zelle transfers of about $1000 from my wife and requested her bank statements to see where she is getting her money from, which is just unheard of. Even my mortgage lender has never asked me such a thing before approving a loan. My wife has nothing to do with this transfer. This is just disrespectful. They see it suspicious for a hard working African to send $2000 to his own bank account in his home country, no mater how much you earn. I will never forget the way they spoke with me over the phone. The person I spoke to, indirectly told me I am a thief. Stay away from this company if you want to be treated...
