We were off to a rough start, I had my appointment scheduled 5 months prior to the date to start my floors. I called 3 weeks before my appointment to make sure we were all ready to go and was told they will be at my house between 9a-10:30am. The Saturday before my appointment, I called again to make sure we were all set for that Monday. I was told they didn't have me on their books nor was there a contract or deposit drawn. We got everything squared away that Saturday and they were to start my floors that Monday. Monday came 8am I get the call from Jahlife-they can't start the job until the next day. They did get the floors all sanded that Tuesday and was told they were going to be back first thing in the morning. First thing in the morning was 3pm, then I was told that they were going to finish the job that Saturday-no call no show on Saturday. I got a call on Sunday morning that they could fit me in, but I was at work and didn't get the message. I finally got a call that Monday and was told they would be at my house first thing in the morning and to pay the final payment to Powers. First thing in the morning was 12:30p. This job took over a week and there was so much lack of communication. I work many hours and 2 jobs and my mother took a week off work so there was somebody at the house to let the workers in the house and I had to miss work that Monday so they can finish my floors. My floors really do look great, but I am positive if it was not for Powers, Jeff and Kevin. My floors would have never gotten done. Refinish white oak hardwood floors. 1st day fine. 2nd day 4 hours late. 3rd day 4 hours late and still waiting. Called them and 1 1/2 hours have gone by and haven’t heard anything. They didn’t follow contract proposal and give us an option to visualize an oil based sealer versus a water based one to choose. They didn’t even bring a water based sealer with them. They just used oil based. Color ok but we wanted lighter which the water based probably would have achieved. 1st coat of water based urethane the workers didn’t even mix or shake containers. The workers didn’t even put the 1st coat on with a new roller. They used an old previously used one they found in the van. They then left it sitting in the pan with the material to just use it again the next day and just poured water in it out of a water bottle even after I offered them to use our washtub to clean it. Now we have hazy blotches in our once beatiful wood floor. I will probably have to battle with them to make it right. I would not recommend them to anybody, in fact I will tell others thinking of a similar project to stay away from them. They said the problem was the water based polyurethane didn’t adhere to the oil based sealer they used. Floor will have to be completely sanded down again and start all over. They said they will make it right. Floor is being completely redone. Looking very good so far. Love the lighter natural wood color. Just need finish coats and the bill.
