Although the facilities were clean, as an EMS professional of over 10 years, who has interacted with folks from all different walks of life, coming from a patient's perspective, I found their patient rapport and professionalism to be severely limited and sorely lacking. Rather than taking time to address a patient's anxieties [simply seeking a referral to a better qualified professional for an orthopedic injury]who clearly stated an initial discomfort and severe anxiety to being touched, Nurse Karen Moulton made a point of being DOMINEERING; attempting to intimidate someone into doing something, rather than taking the time to work through the problem. She lectured the patient, attempting to use her authority as a nurse as leverage to get the pt. to concede, emphasizing how vital signs were mandatory “or else” and expressing anxiety over having them performed was considered being rude to the staff, aka Medical Assistant. Apparently, a patient expressing a phobia or discomfort prior to procedures being performed, will be considered rude to the staff. Nurse Moulton, barged into the room, flippant and confrontational with the patient and their spouse, after their conversation with the Medical Assistant, in hopes of intimidating the pt. into getting their vitals taken and accused them of being rude, rather than trying to problem solve and make the situation a better, more Comfortable one for everyone involved. The Medical Assistant told the patient that it was fine to to not have vitals taken, appeasing them of some anxiety and furthering their hopes of getting a referral to a specialist. After profuse apologies to the Medical Assistant after accusations of the patient being rude and the patient stating that they were VERY anxious, she (medical assistant) ensured that everything was fine. the patient then decided that a simplistic and unsympathetic person such as Moulton, was not the person to be in charge of any type of medical care as her demeanor was horrid and overall attitude was condescending; and apparently, she also decided that it was appropriate to LOUDLY refuse the patient any care, not only in the exam room AND the front office area for the staff and for patients to hear but she decided to repeatedly announce her refusal of care, loudly stating that she would mark it in the pt. chart that they were never allowed back there again, even though they were actively walking out of the door, leaving, with no arguments whatsoever, and had simply requested a copy of the insurance transaction for their records to make sure they were not charged (which they weren't even able to provide!). I think she thought it was a punishment, or a humiliation attempt, when in reality, the only evident way they were going to receive competent care was to go elsewhere. Nurse Moulton needs to take a lesson in what it means to be an advocate “for” not “against” the patient, be understanding, and most of all, be KIND, in order to problem solve and provide quality care, that's really all people seek when they go to a so-called “medical professional” when they seek help. I strongly urge anyone to NEVER take anyone to this Urgent Care, especially those that require comfort, knowledge, empathy, and patience, as those characteristics are SEVERELY LACKING in Nurse Moulton. She has no business interacting with the public or training anyone in anything other than what not to do as an N.P., as her personality is obviously not suited towards public or private interactions...
Read moreI have been in and out of this clinic since last July with bad staph infection and multiple fungal infections in my ear. During that time I've had two cultures taken and sent away which each cost me an extra $190. This morning I got a call out of the blue a month after my last visit and the nurse practitioner (Ragan/Reagan) who the last time I was there couldn't even remember me was suddenly very concerned about how I was feeling. After beating around the bush for a minute she tells me the reason she called is that another bill came from the lab they sent my culture off to and I need to speak to their clinic manager Ashley. At this point I was upset, I've given them over a thousand dollars and been back multiple times over a 6 month period trying to get this figured out and now that it might be figured out they want another $500. But what really upset me was the subterfuge, had they called and been like "hey bro, we're gonna need some cash out of you we forgot to tell you about" I would have been upset but not nearly as upset as I am. To have a nurse practitioner who couldn't even remember me then last time I eas there call me and pretend to be concerned about my health in order to bleed me for more money is pretty foul. Anyways so I get on the phone with Karen or Ashley or whatever she's called and I'm definitely upset, my voice isnt raised but definitely sharp, I want the specifics, not more bush beating. I ask her pointed questions and explain why I am upset, she starts to try and raise her voice and cut me off which I'm way past allowing so I finally do raise my voice. At this point she says "well I was calling to offer you a discount but" and I straight up cut her off, like how you gonna act like you were calling to give me a discount but now you're reconsidering cause I'm upset y'all forgot to tell me I'd have some huge bill in a month or two? So I told her if she wanted to play that game I wouldn't pay it at all, she got upset and hung up on me. Now, I'm gonna pay my bill, even if they didn't say anything about it and even tho they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me for months and after tons of other tests and stuff I paid for. Next time tho, dont lie and act like you care and really really, don't threaten people that have stayed paying hundreds in cash every couple weeks for multiple months for you guys not to cure. Like it won't hurt me at all if I dont pay your extra bill. Ashley Owen was really tryna lose that money tho and definitely lost any future money. I'll never go back for any reason, they will never get another penny out of me and while in the grand scheme of humboldt that doesn't matter I will make sure everyone I meet knows...
Read moreWent here cause I was on vacation and needed antibiotics, which I told them. They asked if I had insurance but I told them that I was from out of state so I was gonna pay out pocket, but the front desk said they would check to see if they accepted my insurance, and they said they did. I paid my copay, waited, and then went to an exam room to run a urine sample and speak with the doctor. At the end of my 2 hour (probably longer) appointment, the doctor said “you know you can just call the number on the back of the insurance card and they’ll prescribe you antibiotics”… Wow, thanks. Wish I knew sooner!! :D Anyways, I came back home to my state where I later received a bill for like $350. I called the office and they said “Looks like we’re an out-of-network provider for your insurance”. More useful information I should’ve known prior to setting up an appointment considering I stated that I was gonna pay out of pocket anyway. So I reached out to the urgent care, which was fine. They had someone refund my copay amount and I was charged the $99 the appointment would’ve costed. They sent a bill for the remaining amount I needed to pay since I already paid my copay amount. The letter asked me to mail them my card information, never gonna happen. So I called the number on the bill, tried to pay, they said there was an issue processing the order and to call a different time. I called a different time and no one answered. I called the office multiple times, no answer. Very frustrating and upsetting. As someone who works in a medical office and deals with insurance, this should be handled very differently and professionally. I still have yet to pay the remaining balance because I...
