As Evanston, WY, residents, Cowboy Joe's is one of our "go-to" places to buy alcohol. As other posters have alluded to, this store is ginormous. They carry a diverse array of beers and hard liquor, but IMO, where they really stand above the herd is their wine selection. They have one of the largest and most varied selection of any store I've ever seen, and who'da thunk in little old Evanston? They carry inventory from just about any wine growing country you can think of, including Argentina, Italy, France, Spain, Australia, Chile, Venezuela, you name it. They do stock domestic wines as well, including some produced in Idaho and Wyoming, although the latter options aren't too numerous given Wyoming's extremely short grape growing season.
The only gripe we've had - and this has nothing to do with the store, but rather the local liquor distributors - is that they periodically run out of Mickey's Big Mouth, which is my husband's favorite beer. Evidently, all liquor stores are at the mercy of what the distributor decides to carry, and if they run out of an item and don't reorder it right away, tough noogies. Which I think is total B.S., because IMO, the customers should ultimately have the most influence over what products a store carries. But, what do I know?
The employees at Cowboy Joe's are friendly, and the store is always clean when we go. Plus it's close to our home, so... our next visit won't be...

We came in on a specific mission. There were two employees on the floor, and neither one of them could be bothered to say "hello", let alone "Can I help you?" Probably because they didn't have time to. They had both beat feet to the back room too fast for idle chit-chat.
One finally came out some 20 minutes later. I gestured to her that a customer (my wife) was waiting at the register to pay for some merchandise.
She didn't seem real happy to have been spotted and having to do something.
Never found what I was there looking for, and never received any sort...
Read moreGreat selection but the only thing is we came from out of town and stopped in on our way out. The staff I felt was not as friendly as in other places we visited. Something I hope to feel when walking into an establishment. I too work in the hospitality/ customer service industry. But maybe because it's a liquor or maybe because they have been there for too many years. But either way, we found what we were looking for and had already stopped at two others before on our way out coming from Flaming George Days. Love Wyoming and...
