UPDATE October 2023: It had been a minute since we last went to Wonderful Inn. It closed down during the scam *erp* I mean pandemic, and evidently changed hands a couple of times in the years immediately following. Some friends of ours recently raved about the meal they had there, so we figured it was time to go back! There have been some slight changes to the menu, for example, my former favorite, mu-shoo shrimp is no longer offered. That's OK, there's plenty more good stuff to be had that we remembered from years past, and the prices hadn't increased much, either. Like before, the food arrived piping hot and freshly prepared; the veggies were nice and crunchy. Even though there was very little change in the décor of the main dining area, it was very clean and neat. Still, it would appear that the bulk of their business is carry-out. We prefer to dine in because the portions of the entrees are so generous, we're able to take the rest to go and make 2-3 more meals out of it. Donna, one of the waitresses, was very cordial and invited us to come back again. If things keep up the way they are, we'll definitely put Wonderful Inn back on regular restaurant rotation!

Driving through Evanston, and we really wanted white rice. We found Wonderful Inn on Google Maps, and it did not disappoint! The food is delicious. It’s not salty. It reminds us of home in the SF Bay Area, where there is some terrific Chinese food. We got the curry chicken, beef with mixed vegetables, veggie lo mein, and steamed dumplings. The dumplings came with a magical dipping sauce that makes me want to try to copycat it at home. If you’re driving through Evanston and are hungry, don’t get fast food. Swing by Wonderful Inn for a terrific meal. Added bonus, we ordered to go and ate across the street in the depot courtyard on one of the many picnic tables.

Really enjoyed our lunch at wonderful inn. First off, it was a great value with large plates for the price paid. For starters we had dumplings and potstickers. Both were good. Everyone liked the hot and sour soup and thought it was better than we have had at other Chinese restaurants. We tried three lo mein dishes - pork, beef, and shrimp. The lo mein noodles were well seasoned. All of the proteins were good and I thought the pork was the best. Fried rice was tasty too. Last we had some Szechuan beef which was also good. Service was good and friendly. We will definitely eat here again.

I'm of Chinese descent and had passed through Evanston many years ago. I wanted to see how the Joss House had developed, so I stopped by for a visit again this past summer. After spending about 90 minutes with the docent, touring the Joss House, the Depot, and the Uinta County Museum shop, with a long car ride still ahead of me, I thought about simply going back toward the interstate, picking up a burger at McDonald's, and hitting the road. I felt a need to go and support the local Chinese businesses (the docent informed me that there are 4 Chinese families still in Evanston, and all of them own restaurants). The food was very very good and authentic - I got it to go and went back to the Joss House and sat in the garden by the koi pond to eat. The decor of the restaurant is simple and looks more like an all-American diner, but it's clean and comfortable. In the unlikely event that I return to Evanston, I will definitely stop...

I'm from Orange county, California, and we have some awesome Chinese restaurants in my area. This was as good as my favorite Chinese food place in fountain valley, ca, and better than many other Chinese restaurants.

We got the daily combo which comes with, a cream cheese wonton, an eggroll, chicken lo mein, ham fried rice, your choice of 8 different entrees, and a cup of soup (egg drop or hot and sour). We got the cashew chicken for the entree, and everything was fantastic except the ham fried rice which was tasty, just really unusual and I'm not used to it.

Portions were enough for us to have leftovers for lunch or dinner tomorrow night (or maybe...
