Patrick was amazing! I was looking for a replacement turntable for my mom's old (and broken) record player. He knew we needed to keep the tech very user friendly, so he worked with me to put together a system combining new and used components.
As I was putting the system together at my house it became obvious that, even though it sounded great, the function of the system was going to be more complicated than I wanted. He happily accepted the return and we started from square one putting together another system. This system was very user friendly, but I was having some technical issues (mostly due to my unfamiliarity with turntables) so I returned again so he and his staff could troubleshoot things. After several trips back and forth we got things working the way they should, and my mom was thrilled with her Christmas present.
I was frankly stunned at how gracious and customer oriented Patrick and his staff were. That's rare nowadays, but perhaps not as rare as I thought if you stick to small, locally owned businesses. Never once did I feel like I was being a bother, even though every time I walked in the store the staff was super busy with holiday customers. Patrick even refused extra money I offered for his help with the trouble-shooting. If he was sick of seeing me, he didn't show it (and to be honest, if I were him I would have deleted my contact information from his phone after about the 10th text message).
All in all, I couldn't be happier with the service at Space Monkey. I would 100% without reservation recommend it to anybody looking to get into the vinyl game. Kudos to Patrick and his staff for being patient and working with me. The end result was a very happy 81 year-old mom who can listen to her records whenever she pleases. That's a...
Read moreI love this store and I think its so great to have a local brick and mortar record store in time when more and more specialized interests/products are only able to be found online. They have a great selection of new records, very good condition used records, and a ton of older used records being sold for low prices. The atmosphere here is also top notch! Very welcoming and It feels like a family run business where your older uncle with superb music taste hangs out with his buddies. They have their own Live365 radio station playing throughout the store and man do they play some good music. While shopping, I almost didn't want to leave because I was enjoying what they were playing so much. I've even discovered great bands I didn't know of after hearing a song they played, which led to me buying a record of that band while I was there. They also give away concert tickets sometimes. Last time i was there, they gave a couple tickets to some guys for a show happening that night. If you collect vinyl or of thinking of starting, or any other music format for that matter, check this place out. Shop local and support...
Read moreThis is a fabulous place to get lost in the hunt for some vinyl gems. If you are going here for the first time, give yourself lots of time. This is not a quick stop to pick up the latest release but rather a full immersion into music like it was when I was a teen in the 70's! They have several quality level sections for lp's so whether you are just massing an average collection or looking for those excellent to near mint records to fill out your collection, Space Monkey is worth your time. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. At first flush the store is overwhelming but that's ok, just pick a spot start flipping through records and soon you'll be relaxed and fell all comfy like that favorite pair of shoes you wear around the house. You know, that feeling like you just belong there. They also sell CD's and I saw some cassettes and 78's too. The store is peppered throughout with vintage hifi equipment and speakers and a healthy amount of rock memorabilia. It's an all around great record store with a little something...
