I've been a member at Sharefax Credit Union for about 4 years. They provide services pretty much on par with any small credit union. The Evendale branch on Reading is my preferred branch as I've always found the tellers that work there to be friendly and helpful. I get the same services I'd get from a bank at a much lower cost and from a member based organization. I'm pretty happy overall.
I would add that I only give 4 stars instead of 5 because there are some things about Sharefax that are inconvenient. Most of these have more to do with their size and the fact that they have to rely on 3rd party services for some of their features because of their small size. For example, the online banking feature is really quite poor. When it works, it meets the bare minimum for online banking and allows me to view my accounts, do transfers, pay bills, etc. However, as a previous reviewer noted, it is frequently down or not working properly. Another example is the fraud department for the debit card. Several times I've had my card frozen because i didn't respond to a fraud inquiry but I didn't respond because i never received a phone call, email or text about it. In many cases, I've called the credit union to get it resolved and received a postal mail letter about it a week or more later. I also attempted the mobile deposit application once on my Android phone and found it severely lacking compared to the one I have through another account at HSBC. I recognize that it's not really fair though to compare a bank the size of HSBC to a small local credit union.
In the long run, I think the benefits of being a member of Sharefax far outweighs some of the pain points of dealing with a much smaller organization that lacks some of the capabilities of a larger banking...
Read moreWhen the bank made the switch to the new app it left myself and many many others without acess to our accounts for weeks. You can see the comments on their fb page unless they scrubbed it clean. The bankers don't know how the new app works. There's so many flaws I cannot list them all. Because i did not have access to my account, being unable to deposit money, they charged me $300 in over draft fees. They've refunded me the fees but it took 3 phone calls and several emails. I shouldn't be crying over a bank account. **I'm still having problems with my account. The app is useless. I don't reccommend it except it shows me all the bogus fees they charge me. They usually refund the fees because they know it's the app making the mistake but I find it highly unacceptable. I joined a credit union because I was lead to believe that they're better than big banks, they take care of you and care about you as a person vs just being a number. I kept my account with a big bank and thank god I did or I wouldn't be able to pay rent, buy groceries or anything, that's how bad they've messed up my account. Right now I'm getting $25 fees for depositing money into my account. And much like dealing with the other bogus fees, I'll call, wait 30 min to maybe get a person and then the person will be sassy with me, then may or may not refund the bogus fees and send me on my way. WHAT BANK DOES THIS??? Fix the problems!!...
Read moreDO NOT BANK with Sharefax Credit Union! My 10 year old son made a transaction using my iPhone that autofills my bank cards information that’s in the system of my phone. When he gives me my phone I notice the transaction, I call Sharefax to cancel the transaction as well as reached out to the merchant (which is some China company) 5 times without receiving any response. My card was canceled I was issued a new card and 2-3 weeks later the funds were sent back which I was told it takes 3 weeks for the investigation to complete. Well 4 weeks later I notice the disputed amount was taken back out of my account only to be told the merchant sent documentation stating I made the transaction and that they had 45 days to send that documentation in not the 3 weeks the dispute department told me it would be not to mention it wasn’t even my dispute in the first place. I have NOT received the item my son even ordered and Sharefax basically told me I have a day to send in a dispute letter that will take 45 days to be resolved. I’ve recently opened the account and I’m regretting leaving Fifth Third I ONLY switched because of the amount of people at my work who banks with them and them having representatives from Sharefax inside my job to sign up new members, I WILL BE LETTING EVERYONE I WORK WITH HERE AT FORD KNOW ABOUT THIS AND HOPE THEY...
