Giant Food — Local services in Fairfax

Super new store. Clean well lit, well laid out. Convenient under cover garage parking. Starbucks in store. Good fish monger and butcher shops. Extensive bakery but don't bother asking for help. Major language barrier and the staff is not at all familiar with theit products. Standard Giant Deli featuring Boars Head Brand meats and cheeses. Folks in the delli are still learning to efficiency cut meats cheeses and guage the weight of items without setting stuff on the scale (sometimes back and forth a few times which slooooows service down.) New "Kitchen" area has lots of premade foods and quick to heat/cook assortment of flat bread pizzas and sandwiches. They have a Cuban flat bread sandwich - but beware - the horseradish mustard is VERY spicy and for my taste, ruined what could have been an otherwise great sandwich. Unfortunately, all of these items a pre-made so there is no "hold the mustard" option available. As a new store, they are well stocked and we'll staffed. Four stars only because no Pharmacy, lack of knowledgeable staff in bakery and inexperienced (but trying)...

Thoroughly disappointed in this Giant. We just moved to the area and usually do Giant for pickup orders. Never had an issue with any other Giant. At this Giant, almost every order has items out of stock and they don’t even try to substitute 80% of them. Like our most recent order, they were out the specific deli ham and ground beef we wanted. They have other options, but never offered them. So we didn’t get what we needed for our meal that night or lunches for the week. The produce we receive is almost always bruised up, rotting, and just horrible picks. I’m not sure if they do this just for pickup orders, or if their produce is really just that bad. The pick up spots out front always have cars just parked there, so numerous times we’ve had to call to tell them we’ve had to park elsewhere since random people parked in pickup spots. Also, 80% of the time we don’t receive a receipt, so we can’t even verify we got correct refunds for out of stock items.

Never had these issues at any Giant but this one. Super disappointed in...

Having to go into multiple grocery stores when you are just doing a quick regular shopping trip is beyond FRUSTRATING! This store is normally really quiet and not generally busy yet they still don't have a good selection of items. The deli can't seem to get in all the Boars head cheeses and it isn't a distributor issue as other stores are able to obtain these items.

Again trying to spend your money, buy items and receive good customer service shouldn't be a task. The reason I prefer going to Wholefoods is they are always willing to go above and beyond. Want to say yes or at least come up with a solution. Talking to managers or associates who only want to apologize instead of fixing the issue is a waste of my time and aggravating.

I just wanted cheese, chicken wings and pasta. None of which should have resulted in me leaving the grocery store empty handed and feeling like I was begging for someone to take my money. Do...
