Rogers Dance Center — Local services in Fairfield

My husband and I had the pleasure of taking eight private dance lessons with Rogers Dance Center to prepare for our first dance. One of our bridesmaids and her husband took private dance lessons here in preparation for their own first dance and strongly recommended the studio to us. Due to time constraints with wedding planning and work, we were not able to fit in the lessons until less than one month before the wedding. We took private lessons with Denise and could not be happier with our decision. Neither of us had any type of dance training and, to be blunt, had four left feet between the two of us. At weddings we generally are the couple standing by the bar watching others dance. However, we really wanted our first dance to be special. We anticipated that we would only have time to learn an abbreviated, simple routine. However, Denise designed a nearly four minute routine that included a dip, multiple types of turns and even a lift at the end! My husband often works late and she was very accommodating with our schedules. To say that dancing does not come naturally for either of us would be an understatement, but Denise was very patient and really broke down each step for us until we felt comfortable. We would practice at home after most lessons and she always noticed and commended our progress. On the day of the wedding we felt very natural and our guests were raving about the dance the entire night and even weeks later. We heard a number of wows and gasps throughout the dance, which we attribute to the fact that many of the guests had seen us awkwardly dance in the past. We encourage couples who want their first dance to be a moment that they never forget to consider taking lessons at this studio. Andrey Kitsun is my teacher. I started taking lessons in my seventies. I knew nothing of ballroom except that there is more to it than appears. (My daughter was a professional in ballet so I get what looks simple is not). Anyway, Andrey is the best. I thought at my age a teacher would not be as dedicated. Andrey has too many championships to count both in Europe and the US and he works heard to try to teach all he knows to his students. He is unrelenting in a good way. During this pandemic, I feel very safe with the protocols of wearing masks, hand hygiene, and temp checks.
