So we came to the book signing for David Sedaris tonight.

What a crowd!

Ticket prices were reasonable. Tickets? Yes! The tiny 12x14 poster that I saw a month ago never mentioned tickets...oh well.

So we waited for a few minutes until everything began. David graciously treated us to personal memories and even read snippets from his diary for possible mention in upcoming books. Thank God he doesn't keep calendars.

The time came for the actual book signing and this was where structure broke down and ground to a halt. It's like they didn't plan this out at all. There was no order, no preconceived notion of how it should flow, no fluidity at all. Worst of all, there is a coffee shop and bar in the same building that could have offered complimentary drinks to cushion the needless wait.

Poor Fairhope...even David didn't want to be here.

I find it interesting that a business that's been open 51yrs (since 1968) has so few reviews. And out of the previous few it had they were all 5-Stars? I'm guessing the staff or their friend were culpable...hey maybe the mayor has multiple accounts and left...

Just like Fairhope, this bookstore/coffee shop/bar is quaint and cozy! They offer a little something for everyone. Chai tea lattes are some of the best I have tasted, with just the right amount of spice. Speaking of spice, the staff was very personable as Amy would tell us stories that had us belly-laughing! Keifer greeted us on our first night in town and ended up aiding in planning our itinerary for our trip with his wonderful suggestions! The last morning, as we were grabbing our "to-go" drinks, we turned around to a room full of small children and parents who were attending a book reading....if that doesn't make your heart smile I'm not sure what will. Absolutely love...

This place was great. The tea was good, the prices were excellent, the setting was super casual and relaxed. I really enjoyed this place. They have the piper and leaf tea which is an excellent brand. I would have given them 5 stars but I'm not because the person I was with has some really serious food allergies and had to have a specific type of tea and when they placed the order the cashier was slightly short about it. You could tell it was annoying her. But I think she thought we were just being super picky and didn't know. That's ok. Regardless, the place is awesome and downtown fairhope is a beautiful place to walk and shop. I recommend this place to...

I love this place! We come to Perdido Key every spring and ended up spending an afternoon last year kicking around Fairhope. Stumbled into Page & Palette looking for coffee. Ended up staying for a few drinks at the bar and seeing a great band, Phil & Foster, who played at the venue at the back of the building. Saw them again this year and came back yet again to do some book shopping. I’m not sure there is a better format for a local business from at least the consumer’s POV — indy bookstore (with staff recs, which is always a good sign), cafe (with an awesome chai latte), bar (well-balanced pours) and local music.
