I wanted to be able to give this place a legitimate review some day. I moved back to Baldwin County in 2020 and it has been a goal of mine to stay here since a friend and I drove past this place one day and they told me about it, later encouraging my google search. Unfortunately, after today I won’t have the opportunity to. I took my children and niece by to see this majestic place I have been so eager to stay in order to create a minimal experience of enchantment that I so dearly hoped we could all experience some day soon but the lady we came across was quite unwelcoming and seemed outright annoyed at our presence. She even complained about the very cautious way I turned around in the drive way regardless, my 360 camera views and my ensuring to be overly cautious. My heart is saddened that we felt so incredibly unwelcomed in our extremely brief 2 minute visit. I still give this place a decent review regardless because of the elevating and magical feelings one gets just observing this impressive architecture and design even...
Read moreMagical, beautiful, amazing, I had a wonderful time as I walked the grounds and got a chance to see some of the most amazing homes I've ever seen up close and personal. As I was walking around a gentleman came up to me and started showing me around. At first I thought he was the grounds keeper, only to realize he was the home owner and had built a lot of what you saw. Dean Mosher is an artist, humanitarian, builder, writer and just an all around amazing person (Google him for more information) He showed me around the property and even took me into his studio where he has even more artifacts and interesting stories. I was allowed to view a painting he did to honor the 4 young ladies of the Birmingham bombing that will eventually hang in the Civil Rights museum in Birmingham. When you visit Fairhope you should definitely make time to visit the Storybook Castle and you may be lucky enough to meet Mr. Mosher, he is truly a gem and I will never...
Read moreMy son and I took a ride to Fairhope, Al, to visit the Storybook Castle last weekend. It's located in the SE corner of Fairhope. I probably would not have visited the place had it not been for my son who had visited the wonderful, artistic works of Mr Moser a few months ago. Upon arriving, I could see this place is a labor of love. It's built of an assortment of various rocks, stones, glass bottles, and various parts of machinery. It even has a moat, with a working draw bridge; folks, it truly is an amazing structure, still occupied as a residence. My words don't even describe the enormous amount of planning, the thought process that went into Storybook Castle, sometimes called by some people as "The Dragon House! When you see the one of a kind structure, you will understand why the place has acquired the second name. Go there, you will be talking about the structure to all your friends and neighbors as I have...
