The Copper Column LLC — Attraction in Fairhope

This has become a destination shop for our family whenever we come visit my parents in Fairhope. This wonderfully eclectic shop is boutique-meets-gallery. One of our first visits here we left with a melted glass wine decanter on driftwood that has become a conversation starter at any dinner party we have. We absolutely love it. Walking through Suzanne’s shop you feel like you’re at a funky museum where it’s okay to buy whatever you see. And then there’s Suzanne herself. Years ago our young son was with us as we wandered through and she ended up having a conversation with him. She made him feel special. Ever since, anytime we visit Fairhope he absolutely insists on a trip to The Copper Column.

So it was with a sad heart that we entered this special place on our visit to Fairhope this past weekend. My wife and I and our young son “grown up” to an 8th grader now. My parents are moving from lovely Fairhope and we knew this would be our last trip there and our final visit to Suzanne’s amazingly chic, funky, fun, whimsical, delightful, special little place. As we walked through the shop I turned to my wife and asked her what she’d think about us buying a piece of Suzanne’s artwork to take with us (something we’d never done before but always imagined doing) as a way to always remember our trips here. And so we are now the proud new owners of a signature Naked Lady painting and it is lovingly displayed on a wall of our home, one of the first things you see as you come in to our own special place. The shop has amazing content and beautiful artwork. Loved all the eclectic feel and clothes,etc. What I did not like was the owner following me and my teenage daughters around like we were trying to do something wrong, even asking to check my daughter’s mask as we were checking out (I’m literally paying you for product in that moment) as if she would try to steal. I’ve never been treated in that way before and was prepared to come back and purchase much more in clothes, but will take my business elsewhere where I’m not treated so suspiciously. I happened across this wonderful shop while strolling the Art Walk in Fairhope, AL. This place intrigued and pleased me and I purchased a couple items. Unfortunately, the items did not work for me, so I called Sunday morning to find out about a return. I was only calling to find out hours and did not leave a message. I was so very impressed when I received a return phone call later that day as my number was on caller ID. What fantastic customer service! They simply called to offer assistance...on their...
