Fairhope Public Library — Attraction in Fairhope

From my time in the city of Fairhope I've found the Library to be a great place for small events, a decent social hangout that caters to all ages in both books and activities, and a nice ensemble of volunteers who can seemingly carry a conversation about 90% of the time on the different books there.

But on the negative side it's odd hours, lack of warnings when it's closed unless you look at the front door, and the sheer amount of times it's closed is perplexing and vexxing. I'd suggest having some way to notify the community atleast a few days in advance on when they will be closed so that the only way to know is NOT to drive over there for that information.

Anyways in short, it's a great location, its facilities are various and the volunteers are very helpful. But it's lack of notification when closed and unavailable is rather...

Gorgeous library with a huge selection of books and media. Clean restrooms, awesome clubs/groups to join. HOWEVER, getting a library card here was like taking down the Berlin Wall. The first librarian I met told me I could become a member even if I was a visitor, but the Internet was down. The second librarian refused to allow me to become a member even though I was willing to pay a non-resident fee because I was a visitor. There are other libraries in the area with a more open policy towards visitors becoming members of the library such as Orange Beach and Spanish Fort. I wasn't planning a book heist or anything. I just wanted to use Libby because their network is way more vast than the one in my local area. I would have been more than happy to pay an annual fee as a visitor if...

Private owned..have to have picture ala picture to use the computer.. it's the only libar in Baldwin county this is required..if u lose or ur card is stolen u have to show another I'd...which is hard if all ur Id gets lost..they have the information but yet u have to a picture again.. that's crazy.. other than that it's a great libar..they have done work on the bldg outer mostly.. they could keep the walk way cleaner though.. pressure it because the concert collect alot of dirt.. spilled drinks..etc from the traffic of...
