Sage might be my favorite restaurant in Fairhope. I love the lamb chops. It's amazing how much better the humus and baba is than at Sunflower Cafe. It's just awful there.
I went back in early August. The food was pretty good. No problems. However, some lady came in and sat next to my table with a crunchy cough. I was so angry she would do that, so inconsiderate.
Wouldn't you know it . . . she so graciously gave me "the thing" with her hacking and carrying on. I've been sick ever since. What a thoughtless person. So inconsiderate. I wanted to leave in the middle of my meal, but it was my wife's birthday so I didn't. We both got sick from that exposure to the thoughtless and less than intelligent senior citizen female diner.
It would be nice if wait staff would keep an eye out for diners who are not well and ask them to leave. Seriously. After four years of this stuff, there really is no excuse for such rudeness on the part of someone eating lunch. I would NEVER do such a thing EVER to my fellow Fairhopians. Even someone with an IQ of 75 should know better. The tables are packed very close together in Sage.
My only other suggestion is that Sage would please stock this beer: "Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier." It is available at the Fairhope Piggly, so I assume the local distributor stocks it. Not sure if that is ABC or not. This beer is far superior to the local "craft" beers made in Alabama, which are all over-hopped and lack...
Read moreSage used to be the finest place to get take-out in this town. I've lived here 5 years. The first 4 I had excellent experiences, plenty of food for what I paid all of which cooked exactly how I asked (you know, edible and adequately spiced). Lately, there has been a significant decline in quality of service, time from order to ready and in the actual food. I thought Sage would be a refreshing change of pace from the burger-and-omelet copy paste restaurants that have consumed this town, something that I could share with my friend from Jacksonville FL. His "lamb with pita" was 4 pieces of lamb with SOME pita bread on top of a salad to attempt to present the food as more than it was. My beef kebab was yellow rice and salad with 5 or 6 bites of fatty steak inside. The alleged "ready in 20 minutes" turned out to be more like 40, as I had waited 25 and drove 5 minutes to get there from my house which is just down the street (another awful thing that used to be a minor annoyance in this town, congestion from Californian migrants). My food was still not ready, I was ignored by the waitresses and was given a snobby look for picking up the food without tipping. Other than swiping my debit card what did they actually do to serve me as a customer to warrant a tip? Why would I tip for what I received? Get...
Read moreStarted off with waiter dumping iced tea all over my 3 year old, and telling her she was fine while upset that ice tea was dumped all over her and her dress, had to insist napkins were brought and waiter did not want to acknowledge or apologize to her about this. Next refused to bring anything out for the little girl upset and very hungry watching another child eat at the table including any type of fruit or veggie or bread I said anything o could purchase she’s really hungry and they said no not until every plate is ready. Besides all that it didn’t end there, I asked specifically if I could order just a kebab as I had just ate , the waiter said yes then brought out an entire meal which was 3x the price and said oh you have to have this and walked away. And for the final thing she broke an alcoholic drink all over the table and in my lap, I politely said oh it happens and paid the bill that was way over what it should be and left even though this was hands down the worst service I’ve ever received at any restaurant....
