I switched from Sanford internal medicine to Sanford family medicine because my doctor at internal medicine left.
Now at family medicine, I am trying to re-establish care and get back on my ADHD medication. I am traveling to Italy and would really like to be back on my medication before the trip. Sanford was great and got me in for a last minute appointment on Wednesday, June 13th. I meet with my new Doctor and do a urinalysis and fill out a release of information form for my last provider (not Sanford) to provide medical history to Sanford so they can prescribe my medication.
Then on Thursday, I call in to check the progress and Sanford Family Medicine tells me that I still need to fill out the authorization for release of information. I told them I had left it with the gentleman working the front desk. They told me “I don’t know who you left it with, but we have never had a gentleman working the front desk.” (I have since learned that there indeed was a man working at the front desk, however, Sanford still hasn’t found that authorization).
After trying to deal with Sanford (waiting 8 hours for the nurse to call me back) I get a new authorization for release of information from my old provider and send it directly to them on on Monday, via fax. They are responsive and send my file to Sanford one day later. (Now Tuesday morning of the 19th).
I spend all day Tuesday and most of Wednesday trying to get a hold of someone, and finally go in Wednesday afternoon to try to get someone to talk to me. After sitting there for 2 hours I finally am told that they must have misplaced the records faxed from my previous provider. My doctor does meet with me even though we don’t have an appointment, but she tells me she doesn’t feel comfortable even giving me a two week supply to make it through my trip. This is somewhat understandable, but after everything Sanford had put me through I was hoping to appeal to my doctor’s sense of decency or desire to care for her patients in unorthodox ways during extenuating circumstances.
So here I am, about to leave on my trip tomorrow morning without the medication I’ve been on for the last 11 years of my life.
I would like to say that I understand my medication is sensitive (Adderall) and also, while I found the staff completely unhelpful most of the time, they were polite and professional. I just thought it was worth writing this review to warn people that they may not be taken care of at Sanford Family...
Read moreGot diagnosed with an Autoimmune Disease about 7 weeks ago and have been so sick with an infection that isn't responding to antibiotics... Doctors are presuming that the reason for this is Lupus. In and out of the hospital 5x in the last month...that number doesn't reflect regular appointments. I am totally unable to work. My Doctors AND the ER/Hospital tell me THIS Specialist is the ONLY DR. in the State that can help me so I have been waiting 7 WEEKS just for their Rheumatology Department to tell me that my Referral had been DECLINED. They also couldn't tell me WHY it had been declined...and get this...I had to call THEM to find out, also. Were they going to even bother calling? Also as I broke down in tears when I heard the news the woman on the phone was extremely cold-hearted & acted like I was inconveniencing her. WORST MEDICAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER DEALING WITH...
Read moreI can't give it one star because I got the bare minimum I came for, but the whole time, you feel like you aren't wanted there. The staff talk to each other over you and don't tell you what's going on or where you're supposed to go. Providers seem like they want to get you in and out really fast and explaining what medications I'm on is always a struggle because they say they have the current ones on file, but somehow they're always outdated by a year and I have to tell them again and again. One of my medications is a controlled substance and they treat me like I'm just trying to get drugs even though I've been on it since I was 15. And every time the system doesn't work I get a skeptical, "if you're on it, why isn't it showing up?" as if I'm making it up. I'm going to start looking into private practices because Sanford...
