Prairie Fiber Arts Center — Local services in Moorhead

I was just passing thru today while on a road trip. I am a beginner knitter and I had a lot of questions. The lady behind the counter (she may have been the owner) was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to help me. I had questions about my project as well as blocking since I’ve never done it before. She looked at my project and pattern and was able to answer my question very fast, she also took so much time to explain blocking to me in depth and even gave me a free sample of wool soap! The yarn they carried was gorgeous, lots of different options. I love hand dyed yarn personally and it was so hard to choose what to buy today because they had so many beautiful options calling to me. The sale section was also great and I got a good deal on some sock blockers! I love Prairie Yarns. Having a small business yarn shop in town is great. The employees are always so pleasant. Also have a good selection of yarns. Knittaz 4 life!!! :)

Update: I have always loved this store, but today I have found a whole new appreciation. I brought in a shawl that I have been working on and explained what yarn I needed for the border. The employee, I am terrible with names and have forgot oops, helped me find the right yarn. We then started speaking about the colors in the shawl. I let her know that I felt the two skeins that I had used were not similar enough. She then found one that was and even pulled back my project for me as I was not comfortable doing this. Kathy was very welcoming and helpful during my shopping trip today. I was greeted as soon as I came into the store and she explained the store layout to me, pointing out examples of different yarns I could find in each of the areas. As we were browsing, she noticed I was eyeing some notions I had never seen before and took some time to explain them to me. After I had purchased my items, she wound the hanks and spent a long time getting out one of the knots that had formed in the hank, making sure we felt welcome to take a seat in the store or go grab a coffee while she worked on it.
