My experience at Caryn's truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I was engaged, I had imagined a specific dress I saw myself wearing on my wedding day - a ballgown skirt with an architecturally flattering v-neck plunging neckline bodice. Originally, Caryn's Bridal wasn't on my list of bridal boutiques I planned to visit. It wasn't until my mother mentioned over and over that her friends' daughters found their perfect dresses at Caryn's, and with many nudges from her (something along the lines of "you have nothing to lose"), that I decided to make an appointment, and planned a day trip to Farmville.
It was important for me to have my grandmother there, and because of COVID 19, I called ahead to ensure it would be a safe experience for not just my grandmother, but everyone around us in the boutique. I also did my research before arriving, and learned that Olivia, a Caryn's consultant, is a member of the same sorority I joined in college - I was eager to work with her based on that connection.
Upon arrival, I felt like a queen. Everyone working was incredibly welcoming to me, my mother, and my grandmother. I felt as if I was the only bride of the year, and had everyone's utmost attention and care. From the very beginning, I felt like I had a trustworthy team of women supporting me on the journey of finding my perfect dress. I must also mention that the boutique is big, bright, and beautiful!
Soon after arrival, I met Olivia and we discussed in greater detail the 'look and feel' I was aiming for in regards to what I wanted to wear on my wedding day. She had 5 dresses picked out for me, and I was ready to play dress up. To explain my experience genuinely, I must mention this part - Olivia came into my dressing room with my first dress. It was nothing like I pictured, and I even wondered for a half a second if anyone was listening to what I said I wanted (Remember that v-neck, big skirt I mentioned above? This was not that!). This was an off-the-shoulder fit and flare, structured and incredibly artichectured. My mother's words rang true in that moment and even though this dress was unexpected, there was something telling me to try it on - I had nothing to lose! Once I had it on, I automatically fell in love! I cried when I saw myself in the mirror, and like they say... I just knew that I felt like a bride! I felt beautiful, I was happy, and I again believed that Olivia had my best most flattering interest in mind when picking out this dress for me. Olivia has a talent for hearing your dream, making your dream even better, and then bringing your dream dress to life. From that moment on, I knew this dress would be hard to beat.
Since that day, I tried on many other gowns including many fitting my original imagination, though no other dress made me feel the way the off-the-shoulder dress did. I continued to compare styles, and even more importantly, I compared feelings. Without a doubt, my dream dress was still in Farmville. I returned again, to relive the magical feeling I had the first day I arrived at Caryn's. Again, it was a super special experience, my grandmother, my mother, and I all felt like we were family. I put on the off-the-shoulder dress one more time (cried again), and without hesitation (the moment we had a venue contract signed), I said YES to the dress.
I'm extremely thankful for Olivia who can be fully trusted by any bride. Trust me when I say she was born for pairing brides with dresses. Olivia -thank you for seeing a greater picture than I could have imagined, thank you for suggesting unconsidered options, and thank you for picking out the most perfect dress for me.
Every time I think back to my experience at Caryn's, and the unexpected full-of-joy feeling I had in my off-the-shoulder dress, I get a bit teary eyed. My experience at Caryn's was truly unforgettable, and I would recommend any bride make an appointment. You may be just as...
Read moreFirst off let me say as a bride I had excellent service! They catered to my needs and I found the perfect dress!
This rating is for the experience I had for my bridesmaids. Going into the the store everything seemed fine, my girls got measured, they found their dresses, the result wasn’t so great.
First of all it seemed like the consultant wasn’t familiar with their designers. My bridesmaid who flew in from out of state ordered a dress with a lace top. Now we were told that dress with the lace top didn’t come in the color I wanted because the lace top didn’t come in that color but we could change the color of the lace to still keep the color I wanted for the dress. So we purchased the dress. Well after everything was said in and and my bridesmaid went back home I was called an notified that after we paid for the dress we indeed could not get that dress at all with different colored lace. So my bridesmaid paid for a dress that could not have been ordered. So we had to pick a similar dress that my bridesmaid couldn’t even try on.
When I asked about the difference in price I was them notified of extra material charges that was needed for this bridesmaid and 2 others.
So those bridesmaids left the store thinking they paid their dress in full only to discover an extra charge was added because of their weight. And I was told these extra charges weren’t going to be brought up until the girls picked up there dresses! How embarrassing is that! I would have been ashamed if my girls went to go pick up their dress thinking they paid them in full only to find out they had an extra charge because of their weight.
Their excuse I was given was that there were unfamiliar with which designer does the extra charge or not. I would hate to shop at store that doesn’t know their designers
Know it’s a few days before my wedding and we are noticing issues with the dresses, one shoulder strap being longer than the other, loose threads and find out the dresses that come from China are not as well made as we hoped for the price...
Read moreWhen I first purchased my dress, I was very happy with the service I received. We had our own private room and my bridesmaids, mother, and family friends were happy to find my dream dress ! But, when I came back for my fitting, the service declined. I was able to speak with someone in the fitting department as I was doing a custom alteration on my dress by adding lace that my grandfather had designed and it was very important and sentimental to me. The lady who helped me was courteous and pinned the lace on how I wanted it and I was very pleased. But, she seemed rushed and we felt like we weren't able to fully enjoy the experience as before but we still left hopeful for how the dress would turn out. 2 months later when I returned to pick up my dress, it was a nightmare. They had attached the lace horribly and with no regard to how it was originally pinned. They also had not steamed my dress or prepared it for me to take that day, even though they were informed that was my intention. I insisted that they attempt to fix the horrible job they had done and was told to give them 2 hours and they would do it. 3 hours later we showed back up, because I still had not received a call from them, and the lace looked even worse. They had balled it up and sewn it on the first time and then tried to "fix" it by pulling it and tacking it in place. So frustrated, and in tears at this point, I took my dress and left. Thankfully my mother in law knows how to sew and was able to fix my dress and make it look perfect, even better than the seamstress had originally sewn it. It was able to be salvaged and my wedding day was perfect! The prices at Caryn's are very reasonable and the shopping experience was pleasant. However, I would not recommend Caryn's to anyone for alterations ever again! I still can't believe we paid them over $100 for alterations to ruin my dress and...
