If I could rate this lower I would. This place is a joke and a shame to even say I actually graduated and worked here. I was like most students in this program, unaware of what else was out there. During my time as a student in 2016 I felt this unsatisfactory achievement as if this program was missing so much. Most of my learning came from personal research and training, the instructors where outdated on the material teaching Unreal Development Kit (UDK) and material for Unity 4. The modeling was ok but still there was a feeling like it was not made for game development. In the capstone project (final project) the instructor required the class to create a 3 level game with almost no training. The instructor was rearley present during the course and critique sessions on our project where just lectures of how unrealistic our levels where. ( remember this is a game development course - reality is not an important factor). Out of the whole class only our team of two people completed the task yet evrey student passed.

As an employee of this shameful business (yes it’s a business not a school of education) I realized I was the odd man out. I realized the borderline illegal practices this department took in order to justify its place in Fayetteville. They would mishandle thousands upon thousands of dollars in equipment that the instructors would not know how to use. $80 thousand on a motion capture system that lasted not even a year operational because the instructor in charge was inadequate in the use of the system. Most of the equipment was bought just to say we had it but really used in the training of the students. The department spent over $10 thousand in virtual reality equipment but never used the head sets at all for any class. Out of ten head sets , two where not even in the school premises because the instructor who requested them used them for gaming at his house. The rest of the head sets sat in a closet still in its shipping packages for almost two years to this date. The school spent thousand of dollars to prepare a class room just for VR , not one computer has been connected to the sets and the class has never been used for the purpose, and now they want to buy more expensive graphics cards to supposedly connect the sets in another room. 3D printers where introduced into the program just to captivate the students , but the instructors have no clue how to correctly print parts or even take care of the equipment correctly. The instructor has even destroyed 3D printing equipment because the lack of knowledge in the hardware (basic sience , do not extrude from a pressurized nozzle with a diameter larger than what is engraved in the nozzle LOL). Meeting with the department was awful in evrey way, I would spend my time listening to the supervisor complain like a little kid on how he hated his job and how he was not going to give students any more time than what he needs by the contract. They would explicitly demean students by comparing them to low life beings who have no motivation to get anywhere in life and are never going to mount to anything. They would even go as far as calling them mentally challenged and useless children.

I did voice my opinion and made it aware of the injustice that this dipartment has been doing to these students, their parents and the government, I say this because they are happy accepting parents money, government FAFSA grants and GI Bill funds, but they have done zero to update the course. My voice cost me my employment due to retaliation from my supervisor, he ended up taking me off the final project, took me off all school presentations and even went as far as scrutinizing my work knowing that theirs was no better. They both acted like childish spoiled kids because they where threatened by my actions. I had no choice but to resign. I employ all who want to learn simulation and game development , this school does not have your interest at all and will only fail you and your future. Do not fall for their lies. Over 70 graduates in the program and zero employed in...

There are so many reasons why this school is a bad choice. They are extremely unprofessional, no concern for you even though you are spending thousands of dollars, and lack of knowledge about their job. Example 1: I can never talk to my counselor. Why not? What does he even do? Does he even exist? Why is he called a counselor, if he isn't even counseling students?

Example 2: Once I had started my classes, I was dropped from my class half way through my 8- week course for non payment. I called the scholarship and they gave me the invoice number that they were paid. I call multiple offices at FTCC and got different reasons to why I was dropped from all of them (I love when people lie and don't even realize they are contradicting everything someone else said), finally after three days, they tell me it was the business offices mistake and tell me I can either retake the class next semester or continue where I was in the class, I asked if I retake it if they will pay for the Key Code that is required and only good one semester (It was $121!), they said no I would have to repay that, so $242 I would have to pay out of pocket for their mistake, no thank you. Then, they tell me my instructor can file to be reinstated back into the class and it will only take two days. Well, I talk to my instructor and he is upset because everything they told me was a lie and completely inaccurate. I had to file the paperwork, no problem. I file it, and it took a week to be reinstated back into the course, all while I called every single day to see where my paperwork was and how much longer, one number rang to voice mail and I left a voice mail every single day and never received a call back. Then, the business office (which must sign the reinstatement form before the registers office) number never had a clue, they told me to call the registers office (which I did before calling them), but the registers office told me the business office still had it and to ask them. Then, when I was finally reinstated not a single person called to tell me, I got an email from someone had sent me an email. I cannot tell you how upset and frustrated I was.

I had to call because I couldn't go up there due to me having to travel home for the death of my brother (I take online courses). Which I was told that wasn't their problem, I may have hit her if I was standing in front of her for being so disrespectful about my brothers death.

Example 3: I had to print some documents and sign them and bring them up to the school (the office where you pay for classes), the first lady I went to told me I printed the wrong ones (though I went to the general classroom building, those people know nothing about their job AT ALL!), then I go back to the general classroom building(where the computers are) and do it myself, then head back over to the other building and did it right. A waste of time. I shouldn't be given the wrong information by the staff. They should be trained and knowledgeable. I always waste so much time dealing with the staff.

Example 4: I went to figure out my MYCAA scholarship, multiple office didn't even know what that was and didn't try to help me find the right room (even the financial aid office! how?). Also, during this time I heard two custodians fighting and cussing each other out in the hallways and no security went to them, even after multiple people reported it to the front desk in the General classroom building.

Example 5: They have no clue if the credits will transfer, even though I told them the school. I was told to contact that school and ask. I am sorry what? What are you even being paid to do? They should know if THEIR schools credits will transfer, or at least be willing to find out. No one wants to do work at this school.

An entire school lacking professionalism, knowledge, organization, and a sense of urgency on important matters. I missed 11 days of an 8 week course. I would give them 0 stars if I could. I intend to switch schools to Robeson...

I am going into my 3rd semester and I am really happy with FTCC. I have taken a few classes here and there over the years at several colleges across the Midwest and I have been happiest with the classes here. This is my 2nd attempt at doing school online, my first being through Ashford. FTCC's tuition is literally 1/4th of Ashford and is MUCH better quality.

My instructors have all been really great. I started during the half semester they offer (8 weeks) and signed up for 4 classes (big mistake) but I still managed to pass with a 3.5 gpa. My ENG 111 class that semester stressed me out to tears, it was very demanding and my instructor had very high standards for the quality of work you turned in. But she was phenomenal and went above and beyond for her students. Her assignment instructions were very meticulous of what the assignment was supposed to be, on the larger assignments she also provided her grading rubric she was using so you knew what it was she was looking for in your essays. She was very interactive with the class always posting notifications of due date reminders, additional assignment clarifications, extra "how to" videos to get an additional understanding. If you needed one on one help she provided her schedule of when she is available for you to come in, and if you couldn't make it in to the school she would Skype with you at a time that worked for you (even late evenings,) she always answered emails the same day (even week on weekends.) What really blew me away was she offered 2 in person study groups during her time off when she noticed a lot of people struggling with the last major assignment. Like I said though, all my instructors were great some more interactive with the actual class than others ( anytime I had a question it was a simple email and always got a quick response I have never had an issue) but this instructor was really dedicated to her students more so than I have ever seen at any school.

A lot of reviews on here are negative because the general staff isn't that great and to a degree I agree. I had some issues with my financial aid the people who answered the phones were more polite but gave a lot of wrong information, the people in the building were rude and unhelpful so that's the only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. But outside of the financial aid department I have had no problems. After you take your placement exam they walk you through how to set up your blackboard (their program for online class and class interaction) student email, and web advisor - after that you are on your own. This is college and it's 2015. You are responsible for your education it works no different with an employer. Just the same as you fill out a job application online you fill out your school application online. You can do everything on your web advisor from searching and registering for classes, a break down of what classes you have taken and what classes you still need, to managing financial aid - it's all on there. The only reason you HAVE to go to the school is to take the placement exam and pick up your books. (which I recommend to wait until your first day of class because some instructors do not require you to have the text book.) You have to be willing to be an adult and take control over...
