I do not suggest coming to this place for highlights or bleaching you hair blonde if you have brown hair or darker. I had scheduled an appointment with them days in advance for a Saturday at 1pm. I arrived and was waiting to be seated for 45 minutes. The lady asked me what I want and I told her a medium to dark blonde hair color. Mind you my hair was colored and not completely dark, it had been lightened before and it was a medium brown color. She kept insisting and pushing me to do highlights on my hair. So I agreed to it. I was under the impression she was going to do it, as the way she was explaining it to me,it looked like she knew what she was doing or at least sort of. Instead, she had a younger and more inexperienced girl do my hair while she was telling her what to do while working on my hair. The young lady looked confused and lost but still worked on my hair. She did most of the work on my hair and the older lady only did some of it. I was in the salon from 1pm all the way untill almost 830pm which is past their closing time. Yet the whole time, they were rushing and handling my hair roughly. I should have left honestly but I was too scared to. In addition to that, they brushed my hair with a brush that had somebody else's hair in it, was just used on somebody else hair and it was dirty. The older lady and younger lady were touching my hair after dealing with other people's hair and going back and forth working on other people and myself. Not once did I see her clean her hands or sanitize the equipment she used on other people during my time there. This is disgusting. This business needs to get their act right or have their business shut down because we're in a pandemic and they're not doing anything to mitigate chances of contracting covid. Halfway through them working on my hair, the older lady looks at what the girl was doing and told her in English, "no. Look what you did." Then she started saying other things to her in a foreign language and she seemed really disappointed. I had to return the next day because my hair was really yellow and she still needed to put toner in it. The next day I returned and she put toner on my hair. My hair still looked really bad and despite asking her in the beginning for a lighter hair color, it still kind of looked like the color I had before. Instead of highlights she bleached my whole hair and it turned out to be an orangish, red/dark brown color. She charged me for the whole thing almost $200 if not more. I asked the older lady if the finished product was highlights and she said it was, and if I wanted it lighter I would have to wait some more time and come back to try again. She told me that my hair didn't lift a lot and that if I didn't want much of the reddish/orange tone in my hair that I would have to pay $90 or so in addition to what I already paid to tone it more. I went to a different hair salon and they told me what this lady did, was not highlights at all. I am not satisfied with the finished product and the hair color looks horrible. They might know how to do haircuts but highlights and bleaching, they don't know how to. For real, go somewhere else because both lady's do not know what they're doing when it comes to highlights and bleaching. As for the positives of this salon, both lady's were really welcoming and affectionate. They offered me...
Read moreSad to write this review I had high hopes working with Chen. I went to her one time to get a haircut and it went very well. So I came back to her to get my hair dyed. I was looking to go lighter than I was (I have black hair). We did a hair consultation and I throughly explained that my hair had been bleached in the past and I had to dye it black for military reasons. Nonetheless I came in for the actual hair dying appointment. She got started fairly quick and sectioned my hair and got started. She did the whole back of my head with foils. It wasn’t anything but 5 mins or so after she finished the back of my head that I could hear sizzling and my scalp was on absolute fire. I told her and she tried to reassure me that it had been less than ten minutes since she put it on. I then told her again it was burning my scalp. Turns out she MIXED HAIR COLOR REMOVER AND BLEACH together and that was what was in my hair. It broke off and damaged my hair severely. My hair was left at an awkward red orange color and I had to go back black. She didn’t charge for the bleach. But did charge abt $200 for the black hair dye. I have very thick hair thankfully but the damage is evident. Truthfully looking back I should’ve refused to pay. But she continued to tell me during the whole appointment my hair was not tht bad and the breakage wasn’t noticeable. Chen as a person is sweet from what I gathered during my two small encounters with her. But i question her judgement when it comes to hair dying. Specifically bleaching hair. Beware asking of tht service from her. Also a side note…when we had a consultation and even during the hair dye appointment I told her my expectations where very realistic. I was NOT expecting platinum blonde hair by any means. I just simply wanted to lighten my hair to as much of a natural color as possible. And keep my hair integrity. She definitely failed me on that. And to add as well, she should have NEVER mixed hair color remover…it can cause very unpredictable outcomes. And did exactly so. My hair is extremely damaged thanks to her negligence and lack of knowledge of simple hair chemistry. I shouldn’t have had the trust I put into her. That was my fault. At the end of this alll. I will never NEVER EVER, come back to Hair Story Beauty Salon & Spa. It was the biggest mistake and I wouldn’t wish what she did to my hair on my worst enemy. Also last thing to add. She caused damage to my scalp and burned the skin on my scalp. I literally had a giant scab on my head from the heat of the chemicals. I also know she used hair color remover and bleach together bc she straight up...
Read moreI could not get into my stylist for highlights and went here. She was an available. I have been getting my hair colored for 20 years and blend in the gray. I was supposed to be getting some white silver bleaching highlights. Jin said that it may turn out brassy. I was ok with that I needed it lightened up. She was going to charge extra for the color lightning shampoo. Our toner on my hair no protein treatment. I had my hair cut and styled a month before. She was supposed to cut off the dead ends but she ended up trying to cut the damaged ends off of it. My the underneath was left alone and black. It is still healthy. The top was completely orange and fried. It has never been damaged like that. My friends and family and coworkers were like what happened to your hair. It is so embarrassing. I went to her and showed her the next day pictures my hair falling out. I asked for half of my money back because after giving her 250.00. She refused said I could call the cops that she has people get up and not pay all the time. She told me she could not remember what she did to my hair. I asked her you don’t keep a card on your clients she said no. I take responsibility for the color but the damage to my hair is beyond repair at the moment. I am now going to the Paul Mitchell school I. Fayetteville and get it fixed. I went out of town this week before my neck surgery and had to buy a wig . It’s bad when the Paul Mitchell school said yes right now that’s your only option until we stop the breakage. I am a professional business woman and to have people looking at you like this and to have her say to my face she doesn’t remember and doesn’t care I would not recommend anyone going to this place. Your going to over pay for services have someone work on you that doesn’t care. No wonder so many people are walking out...
