We booked Unit 33358 Timberview Ct, Bethany Beach, DE 19930 from July 6–9, 2025, specifically because it was right next door to our friends’ place in Sea Colony. We hadn’t seen them in years and were looking forward to a restful, meaningful getaway. But for nearly $3,000 for just 4 nights, what we got instead was a shockingly dirty, poorly maintained, and uncomfortable rental that genuinely ruined our experience.
Two of the beds weren’t even made when we arrived.
The king bed in the main bedroom had visibly dirty, unchanged sheets — with hairs, dirt, and deep wrinkles. We didn’t discover this until we were ready to sleep with our toddler. It was too late to do laundry, and the sheets felt itchy and unclean.
The middle bedroom sheets were extremely rough and low quality, almost like cardboard.
The first bedroom smelled strongly of urine, which made it impossible to use.
The toilets hadn’t been properly cleaned — one had visible fecal matter in the back panel from a previous guest.
The porch was filthy, with a coffee table covered in sticky residue and sand.
The plates and utensils were dirty, sticky, and had hairs on them.
There were only two forks in the entire unit — so the three of us had to share utensils.
The floors were grimy — when my son spilled water, the towel we used to wipe it up turned light brown.
The comforters and decorative pillows looked like they had never been washed and clearly needed to be replaced.
The living room carpet was clearly dirty and overdue for deep cleaning.
The pots and pans were so cheap and warped that cooking a basic toddler meal — which usually takes 20 minutes — took over an hour.
The lamp shades in the main bedroom were covered in mold and thick dust, a serious hygiene issue.
The WiFi instructions were completely misleading — they said to press a “mic” button on the remote (which didn’t exist). We couldn’t access the internet wgen we arrived, when we finally spotted the WiFi info posted on the fridge — something they could’ve easily mentioned upfront.
To make things worse, my 70-year-old mother, who has disabilities, was traveling with us and desperately needed a clean and restful space. She was upset and uncomfortable throughout the stay.
We came here to reconnect with loved ones and enjoy a peaceful break. Instead, we have been exhausted and frustrated. The grime, lack of basic supplies, poor communication, and complete lack of care from whoever manages this property made it one of the worst rental experiences we’ve ever had.
Do not book this unit unless it's been thoroughly deep cleaned, restocked, and brought up to basic standards of hospitality. Absolutely not worth the price, and completely unacceptable...
Read moreWe rented 604 Dover House for a week for our first trip to Bethany Beach. The view from our balcony was absolutely stunning! The condo itself was updated and cute but it was so disappointingly filthy upon our arrival. Check in was very easy and convenient. We really loved that we received an assigned parking spot in the garage as sometimes parking at condo buildings like this can be a nightmare. However, the spots were so crazily misplaced- jumping from 305 to 708 to 604... no semblance at all so it was actually really hard to find. Once we actually found it, the parking spot for this particular condo was amazing. About 10 steps from the door that leads to the elevator so it made unloading & loading the car a breeze. Bins are provided for guests to wheel up their luggage and belongings if needed. Once we arrived, we walked into the following: *Coffee/sticky stains all over the kitchen floor *Counters still had salt or sugar particles all over then *Coffee table and end tables had drink rings (again, some sticky) *Sliding glass door to the balcony had hand and fingerprints and smears ALL OVER to the point we had to wipe it down to clearly see. Master bedroom had sand on the sheets that were supposed to be clean sheets??? ***When we went to change out the sheets for the King bed, there were NONE provided. Only sheets for the second bedroom beds *A closet in the master bedroom had a comforter that we found that I planned to lay over the dirty sheets on the King bed. Upon unfolding it, there were 2 streaks of stained blood!!! NOT WASHED. It grossed us out so much we actually sprayed our hands with lysol after accidentally touching it. *Master bathroom had pubic hairs around the toilet seat and a couple in the bathtub
All around, the place was truly filthy. In a time of a pandemic where its SO IMPORTANT to be extra vigilant with sanitization and cleanliness, this was absolutely horrifying. Our entire first day was ruined. After driving 6.5 hours from NY, we immediately had to go to the local store to buy cleaning supplies, a broom, a mop, etc and fully clean the condo for over an hour before any of us felt comfortable. We certainly left the place 100000x cleaner than we...
Read moreThe thermostat stated not to set lower than 74. The sign was laminated, so there is no plan to fix it. Upon talking to Vacasa, they said that air conditioners do not work when the thermostat is set to 20 degrees colder than the outside temp. Funny, my AC at home works fine set to 70 when its 100 outside. Expect the cottage at 3903 Volley to remain warm during the summer, and extremely uncomfortable when trying to sleep.
Next, the hot water in the only shower was cold even though the faucet had hot water. The runner said they would replace the valve in the shower that night. The next morning I called Vacasa and they stated they would look into calling a plumber. The shower was never fixed during my stay.
For awareness, the grill on the back deck does not have propane, so that is useless. The listing did not say to bring your own propane, which wouldn't happen for anyone flying in like I did.
Next, upon check in I found out the Vacasa staff already gave my rental to someone else and charged me for extra resort badges and parking passes. After multiple attempt, I did get a refund on these passes/badges.
Lastly, the internet in the rental did not work. All efforts to try various ways to connect failed. Expect no internet.
The over priced Sea Colony (resort badges and parking passes are a cost) and over priced Vacasa rental only showed that Vacasa prioritizes their profits over customer service and customer satisfaction. I never asked for a refund for my rental but it was certainly never offered.
Absolute worst vacation location. I would caution anyone considering the Sea Colony resort at Bethany...
