I moved to Bethany about 2 years ago and was looking for some new local places to try out and figured I’d read the reviews for some neighborhood restaurants.
I came across Summer Salts, a place I’ve driven by 1,000’s of times, and started reading some reviews. Instantly I noticed that it seems this place is pretty popular and a lot of people really seem to ❤️ it, so that was a really good start… BUT it was only after reading Kim Stavely’s review I knew I had to give it a try.
Kim went into great detail on how her and the rest of her party thought the food was ”very good” (Kim got the crab cake special… yum, good choice Kim👍🏻) PLUS she thought it was reasonably priced BOTH times she visited, YES THAT’S RIGHT, she liked it so much she went right back!
However, both sadly and more oddly enough, despite her admitted satisfaction, Kim still decided to leave this business a 1 star review seemingly over nothing but a F’ing poster that wasn’t even there the 2nd time she visited! 🤷🏻♂️. When you actually think about it, it means she sat through her entire 2nd visit knowing full well she was leaving the place a bad review as soon as she left no matter how positive of an experience she TRULY had, Kim sure seems like a pillar of mental stability, and I’m sure she’s a ton of fun at parties!
Anyway… back to the restaurant, honestly I haven’t been there yet, but everyone who actually lives in Bethany always raves about the place, and it’s always busy, even in the off-season and that alone is usually a great sign down here! I keep meaning to stop by but just haven’t had the chance yet… but I assure you that after reading Kim’s review I am instantly inspired to go visit as soon as possible. I just hope that when I do I have as great of as an experience as Karen er… I mean Kim seemed to have had at this local small business! I’ll edit the review afterwards and report back😉
Kim… for the good of the entire community, please take your miserable attitude back to Jersey because Bethany Beach is just far too nice of a place for you… oh, and grow the F up…because people like YOU are EXACTLY why YOU lost!
In fact… on second thought… please don’t ever change!...
Read morereally wanted to like this place, but had multiple problems. Took a long time to be greeted (2 other groups walked out and didn't wait), but we weren't in a hurry and reviews were good. Took a VERY long time for food to be prepared (simple meals)--maybe 45 min or so--2 kids meals and 2 simple adult meals. Food finally came, was not as we were told it would be. We asked if bun would be toasted, answer was yes, definitely. Came untoasted. Was supposed to be jasmine rice with fish tacos, but was bland, undercooked "uncle bens" style rice. I took one bite of the taco (which was very tasty) and then needed to find our waitress. When I went searching for her, she was in the kitchen. Waiting outside the kitchen I saw a cook place a piece of meat on a plate with his hands, then lick his fingers and begin eating with his hands, and licking his fingers at the food prep area. At that point, I told the waitress and she was appropriately appalled. She comped our meal instantly, and we left. She was very friendly and we appreciated her quick response to an obvious health issue. She was the only one working that day which really sucked for her, so I felt badly for her, but she didn't seem like she knew how to manage the customer environment as a whole, other than to be friendly and warm. I would recommend addressing the issues in the kitchen. I also would encourage her to at least maintain ongoing communication if food is coming late or not to standard. We saw 3 tables worth of customers come in and then leave in the time we were there. I really hope it was just a very off day and I hope the waitress doesn't have to face that situation very often. Not fair to her and definitely not good for...
Read moreOur family is in town for Spring Break. As we looked for a family-friendly place to eat, we came across Summer Salts Beach Grill (after going to another place first and not liking the vibe). We were greeted by who we learned was the owner, John. When we walked in, we were unsure if this spot was the vibe for us, too, but being greeted the way we were by John, we decided to stay for a meal. John took our drink/food order and returned with nachos for the table that we didn't order and said, "You guys look hungry and I can't have that, here ya go, own the house." That was awesome, and we enjoyed the great nachos.
I am an observer, so while the spouse and kids were on their devices (lol), I continued to people watch, and the atmosphere was nice, sports were on a couple of the TVs, and the weather channel was on the others, LOL. Our food came out fresh and hot. My spouse got the fried chicken (which John told us would be 15 minutes because it is cooked to order). My spouse loved the fried chicken. I ordered the blackened chicken alfredo and could only eat a few bites as I was full from the app and salad (going to eat the leftovers after writing this review). The kids got favorites (chicken tenders/fries and a burger). Everything was good, and the night was enjoyable. John and his staff were personable and professional. We will come back the next time we are in town. Thanks...
