Thinking about ordering a book from Act2 books? Before you do, please look into the credibility and satisfaction of online customers. Apparently they cater to the local people and try to rip off the potential customers online. Please do contact me and I will be happy to provide all of my evidence as why I will never use them again. I ordered a book, only place I found exactly what I wanted anywhere on the web. Fulfilled all needed to purchase. Paid through paypal. Next day I receive a conformation email from Act2, stating they have my order. An email from Paypal stating the payment is ok and has been forwarded to them along with an email of my order. Waited and waited, nothing. Paypal has a window of time to file a claim and that date was rapidly approaching. Sent an email inquiring the status of my order as well as request for a tracking number. No reply, emailed again and again and still nothing. Contacted Paypal again as requested and finally they issued a refund. Found these deadbeats on Facebook and posted a true and full review. Finally after posting more I get an email apologizing for the mix up and requested the name of the book. Responded and got a reply stating they found a ''string'' of my emails and never knew about the order. Lie since they confirmed receipt of my order (and payment from Payal so they knew from TWO sources) . Again an email with blah blah about their move and a bit hectic and sees that I was issued a refund but will look into what happened and notify you tomorrow. I agreed to resubmit payment because I wanted ''that'' book. It's been over a week and still NO REPLY. Seems they enjoy ripping people off. It's only $12.00 order. These type of deadbeats are rampant throughout the internet and think they can treat customers like crap and get away with it. Sorry buddy boy but the world WILL know what deadbeats you are. I have eternity to do just that. Disabled at home and lucky to get twelve bucks to buy a book. So I have eternity to expose you. You should of done what's right in the first place, and me waiting for you to do just...
Read moreDo not deal with this store online if your expecting to receive your order, or get any kind of adult respect. I ordered a 10 volume private set of the Oxford dictionary that was said to have all volumes, and in stock ready to ship. 9 days later after the order I get an email saying my money had been refunded via PayPal. So after an email and two phone calls to get thru, i was told that in their small little book store they can only find 8 volumes so they refunded the money. So I asked them to find them and send me my order and I get a smart remark saying ok then it will be $2700 more for the two missing volumes. So this place is not only disrespectful but also incompetent. They took my money, for an order that was made under the notion that the business (especially a tiny book store as I was told) would know what they have in inventory before posting online for all to buy! My guess is they had a change of heart and are now going to charge more for the same 10 volumes, which also has a word for what kind of people do that! Horrible business to deal with and I hope this stops some people from dealing with them....
Read moreI used to love to frequent used bookstores until I started using ebook readers. Since then I've missed the 'browsing experience' but none of the stores around had a great selection.
Act 2 however has a great selection of used books, some of which are so old I'd be afraid to handle them. It's not really the sort of book store you'd sit in and read like a B&N but you will spend a great deal of time browsing the huge selection.
I have no complaints about this place... it's crowded with books and you need to wind around corners and stacks and be careful not to knock some of them over... it's a perfect used book store.
The only thing I found odd was that some sections seemed to split into two. There were history books in the front and when I went into the back there seemed to be yet another stack of them. Not a complaint because you can never have too many...
