We ignored the recent 1-star reviews, sounded like someone with a grudge. I've worked in IT for 30 years, many Indian friends and colleagues. So I'm comparing this to many meals at places like Moghul and Mehndhi in Morristown, Cinnamon in Morris Plains, Chand Palace in Parsippany, Begum Palace in Madison, Masala Art in Branchburg, and home cooked meals from my friends' families. I've had great Indian food in the past, and this place is right up there in quality. Only takeout for now.
Lasooni Gobi (cauliflower) appetizer was outstanding, just the right spices, and we loved the plain parotta. Lamb Biryani was spicy the way we like it, full of flavor, and the Chicken Korma was intense and thankfully not too hot. Gongura Goat was also spicy, full of flavor, my son will ask them to kick it up a notch next time but he loves things ridiculously hot. Order some sides of rice, it isn't included with dishes like the Korma. They labelled everything so we knew what each dish was, and wrapped it tight so nothing spilled and it stayed hot for the trip home.
I'm including pics of the menu that I grabbed, as the online menu doesn't have all of the items and options listed here. Give Cilantro Garden a try, we...
Read moreWe showed up a group of 12 to celebrate my birthday. The staff help my 92 year old Grandmother get up and down the stairs even though we had enough people to help. They moved tables around to fit us all. Helped suggest food for those who have never eaten at an Indian restaurant before. Didn't rush us and just went above and beyond with accommodating us. They were great with my 4 year old with not making to food to spicy for him. We had a vegan member there that they accommodated too. The food was amazing and we went home with enough leftovers to continue enjoying it. We ordered 10 different dishes and everyone was delicious. The chef came out at the end once he was done cooking to make sure we were happy which was just another extra step of their amazing service. When they heard it was my birthday they gave me an extra mango drink to bring home since I loved it so much there. They staff is amazing. The food is amazing. It's a small spot but amazing food and service. Highly recommend it and we will be going back again and suggesting it to all...
Read moreWhile coming back from Chicago, we stopped here for lunch… The town looks like no one visits, but given its houses & churches arc style, it seems this area must be a great spot in its heyday Coming to the restaurant- We were the only ones there so no rush! The Owner himself cooks/serves & bills. One man does all the job.
We ordered- Ghee Dosa Dat Tadka & Chapati
Dosa was good and so was its dal. Simple but best!
The only thing which I did not like was its plastic plate & spoons. It is not a fast-food joint and I am paying what normal restaurants charge.
I understand due to cost cutting, the owner provides service like this, but I won’t come where food is served in plastic
Other than that, the food was good, service was a bit slower (Single man does all the job), and...
