Alkemy Coffee Co. — Restaurant in Flemington

Dark roasts, great vibes. Didn’t try the goth latte but very cool idea. Staff was awesome and super nice and the place looks great. Also shoutout to the young kid who took our orders, might’ve been the owners son, but what a professional!

If you’re looking for lightly roasted specialty coffee, maybe a fruity single origin anaerobic as a pour over, this isn’t the place. I tried the batch brew (black) and it was pretty dark but definitely pairs well with milk. Espresso is also good but more traditional (dark chocolate flavor profile), but I only tried it as a macchiato (which had more milk than I expected and was closer to a cortado). They only offer WHOLE and OAT milk, just a heads up. (No almond etc). This is all mostly subjective taste preference, the coffee is good nonetheless.

I wish I got a photo of the menu (it’s not on their website either even though there’s a ‘Menu’ button), but the Tea was my favorite thing here! I got an elderberry tea (comes hot or iced) and it was super refreshing...

It's an alright coffee shop, especially compared to the previous owners of the establishment. When I arrived to order a boy, no older than ten was behind the register taking andaking orders. Where is the actual staff? I feel like anything negative I say about this will be directed at him when in reality its the restaurants fault. I ordered a tea to try, I figured it was pretty simple. It took twenty minutes, both of my friends had bought, consumed, and we're going to another place by the time I got my tea. I know it had to steep, but other people had the same order and got theirs ahead of me? Regardless, when I finally got my tea it was bland. I forget what exactly it was called, but in short it was supposed to be a mint tea when in practice it was just off colored and bland water. My friend said that is how her coffee was too. I hope this isn't how their coffee and desserts are when I try it next time. 6/10

Great coffee. However it took 33 minutes to get it from the time we ordered. It was a busy Saturday mid morning (11am) but they were clearly still working out the kinks. They asked for everyone's name as they ordered but they would simply call out the contents of the beverage as it was made. Watched several ordered get misdirected. Overall the coffee was great and a fresh goth vibe. They just need a better more consistent production system.

UPDATE 08/31/2024 They have definitely smoothed out the opening rust! Great coffee drinks both hot and cold. Scones are pretty good too. Service is quick and efficient. Ive been here many times since my original review and I need to be fair. Great place to hang out, do work, listen to podcasts or just people watch. Keep up...
