Terribly disappointing experience! First we were met with the statement that they do not have sufficient menus, so we need to pull our phones and scan the menu on our phones, to see what they offer! Really!?!?! Savings on them, burden for the client.... If they want to stay green, I respect that, but by the electronic screens to offer the menu there, do not rely on the client to "self-serve"... OK, and then fast forward to 1hr 20 min later - a person ( not our waiter) shows up to ask in pretty angry/aggressive voice: You should have been told that you have 1,5 hour with your reservation. Did you know that?" I made the reservation, so I answered - "No, we were not told that" It is the truth! No one told us not at making reservation, not even at entering the restaurant, when the hostess saw us and checked the reservation! The person proceeded aggressively to ask "Who did you speak with, so I can take the feedback to them".... i said "I don't know who I spoke with, I did not ask for the name of course", but that did not resolve the conversation and the person strode off angry away.... Although the food was good, this ruined everyone's mood for the evening! To make it worse, there was room for more tables on the outdoor patio, but instead of placing new tables, they had to give us this attitude!!!.... We are NOT going back to this place. I do not recommend you do either, it only would encourage such poor attitude...
Read moreBlue Fish Grill is located next to Stangle Market in Flemington. This is such a great eatery. It's a BYOB yet they have select local NJ wines you can purchase by the bottle. Reasonably priced menu items and consistent, fresh food choices, 99% made from scratch in this highly functioning kitchen. Ask for Karim, he's one of the best servers I've ever come across. Knowledgeable about the menu, tastes, flavors, he is more than a server, he's a guide for your Blue Fish Grill experience. He greets you like family and makes sure your satisfaction is guaranteed. The owners ensure ingredients are fresh, there's a choice on the menu for everyone. The fried calamari is what we had as an appy during this visit. It was fresh, had tentacles as we like, light and flaky with banana peppers & homemade tartar sauce. We also each had a cup of New England Clam Chowder which was rich, creamy, savory and was better than any chowder I've had in any New England restaurant. For entrees, my husband had Mojo Mariscos. Shrimp, Muscles & Scallops in a red sauce with 2 pieces of bread grilled, perfect for sopping up the juices. I had Fish and Chips. Classic dish, cod was fresh & batter was really delicious. It was accompanied by Cole slaw, tarter sauce & thinly sliced seasoned fries. YUMMY! We finished with a Plaintain Sundae. Great meal going...
Read moreWe chose Blue Fish Grill to cater our wedding, and we are sooo happy that we did! From the start, Kelly was easy to work with, down to earth but also innovative, focused and warm. We can't say enough good things about how it all went. Though Kelly was at times a bit hard to get in touch with (she's a busy lady!), she was very present when we did meet and we had total trust that everything would get covered, which it did.
The Details: Kelly worked closely with us on every aspect, including price. She was flexible with her menu and the rentals to match our budget. The FOOD was outstanding. One area that Blue Fish clearly does spectacularly, and has no compromises with, is the quality of the meal. The salmon and braised beef short ribs with homemade kimchi definitely will be remembered. Also, the display of hors d'oeuvres was as gorgeous as it was delicious. People couldn't stop talking about it. Kelly went out of her way to make us a chocolate cheesecake for dessert, along with many other amazing goodies, including a feisty basil, mint, and jalapeno sorbet. The staff was friendly and good at problem solving (we needed a quick turn around on the ballroom from ceremony to reception).
