Viva Mexico Restaurant — Restaurant in Flemington

We showed up without reservations just about 7:30 pm on a Friday night. There were empty tables and the restaurant wasn't full so we were seated in about 5 minutes.

We ordered after a few minutes and were provide chips shortly afterward. I noticed on the menu that chip refills are at a cost. No big deal as I wouldn't want to fill up on chips anyway. However, it took a very long time for our party of only 3 to get our meals. I'd describe the portions as smaller than normal for this type of restaurant but really adequate for a meal. It is not the type of restaurant where you end up taking home at least another meal. It is BYOB which saves some bucks!

As mention, service is really, really slow getting your food. The food was good except my daughter though the "Medium" spiciness was more like a weak mild. I have a problem with the charging for chip refills if they take 30 to 40 minutes for your order.

Overall, the food was good sans comment from my daughter, but service time and prices mean it probably will be another 5 years...

I have been a patron to Viva Mexico for 8 years. Sense they have opens their new location they have screwed up my order 5 times. I even ask them to repeat the order sense I have come to expect this. Not only that but if u call 20 minuets before they close they will refuse your order. There has even been a time where I called 15 minuets before they close and they put me on hold for ten minuets and never came back on to take my order. Today, I ordered lunch and no only was the order screwed up but it included an extra entree which we did not order. This extra entree had part of our order Donny frustrated coworker paid for the extra entree so she could still get what she ordered and didn't have to wait. Let me add finally that we were told 20 minuets until the order would be ready. My coworker still had to wait 15 minuets for our order when she got there. When I called to complain nothing was said to me on the phone...

Recently we went to the new location and while reviewing the menu we received chips and salsa. The basket of chips had only about 7-8 pieces in the basket (less than half full). When I asked for additional chips they told me I will have to pay for it. I explained that there is hardly anything in the basket for 2 people to share. The server advised her manager who was a young man and he came over to our table. He asked us "what was the problem"? I advised him that there are hardly any chips in the basket and we wanted more chips. He went off about food costs and mentioned that this is complimentary and he does not even have to do this. We were really taken aback by his defensive attitude and lack of customer service. We walked out of the restaurant before ordering and will not be returning. Don't waste your time, there are better restaurants in the area that want the business and make their customers...
