The location is clean, and staff were friendly. When we went early on a Tuesday (5:30 pm) we were the only people there. We ordered an appetizer of the salsa sampler, a kid’s taco, a kid’s burrito, a chicken chimichanga, and a pastor chimichanga. Our appetizer came out quick but only with a small handful of chips and the next time we saw our waitress was when our meal was ready so we could not check on getting any more. We only had enough chips to try 2 of the three salsas’ but asked the waitress to leave them as we had 80% of the salsa left and we figured we would use it with our meals. I added some of the red salsa to my rice and noticed it tasted funky. I put some of the salsa on a fork directly and tried it to find it had some light carbonation / was fizzy like it had fermented. I know people intentionally make fizzy salsa by fermenting it I’m not sure I’m a fan of unintentional fermentation. The portions for the adult meals were small (same as the kids’ burrito in size), but still reasonable. The kid’s burrito and the two chimichanga were 75% refried beans. The pastor tasted re-heated and was just chunked of pork and pork fat, not the marinated slow roasted pork I was expecting. The chicken was just unseasoned chopped up chicken, not bad but not good. When the waitress came out for the only time not taking our order or bringing our food out, we let her know about the salsa being fizzy and the pork being off. The owner or manager came out and was very polite around the situation and did mention that they have a hard time with staff turnover so some of this could be due to that. We waited quite a bit more waiting for our check to the point we got up and were going to the front to pay. As I was paying, we did have a quick discussion and the owner / manager was trying to make it right, but we were not looking for a discount or anything like that and anything for a future visit would be pointless as just the fizzy salsa alone would have kept us from going back. The waitress said we should have asked for more chips, but she never came out between our appetizer being delivered and meals being delivered so we would have had to walk to the front to ask. Nice owner / manager, and I wish the food could have been...
Read moreWe found this place by accident when we realized our original dinner plan required reservations, and I am so glad we did! Parking was easy and there was no wait. First thing I noticed was that it was a cute and colorful space. We were immediately greeted and sat. I asked for the waiter to "surprise me" on the beverage flavor, and he brought me a Pineapple Jarritos which was lightly sweet with a pleasant fizz. We ordered the chips with salsa and guacamole to start and I have to say that was the best guacamole I have had in years, and the salsas were excellent as well. My husband ordered a steak and an enchilada with mole sauce. I don't think I've ever seen him lost in a meal like that before. He said it was easily one of the best steaks he has eaten out at a restaurant before, and there were plenty of steaks that came before this one. My son had chicken fajitas and they were fresh and full of bright vegetables. I ordered the chicken chimichangas and doused them in more of that delicious green salsa. The atmosphere was friendly and casual, and the food was freshly crafted. This is a place I would like to visit...
Read moreGood food - really enjoyed my chimichanga, horchata did taste a bit off however still enjoyable nonetheless. The problem was that the prices on their physical menu (and here on google) they said “were wrong” before picking a price out of thin air without any use of a calculator for that 6.625% tax rate which is sus at best.
It gave off the impression that they were just charging more bc I’m white passing ? Which I mean I hope isn’t the case, but either that or false advertising on prices, both of which are problematic as there is no “corrected” prices listed anywhere. It ended up being $3 more if you take out the % of tax. Not that much different but still a significant higher percentage increase than the listed prices. Didn’t seem to be a simple price change. Kinda disappointed with all of that.
Highly doubt if I went back and had my Dad order the exact same thing in Spanish that we would charged the same price. 🙃 honestly doubt I would get the same price either if a different person was at the cash register bc of the fact the price came out of thin air. But I won't be returning so I guess...
