Raritan Learning Cooperative — Local services in Flemington

Raritan Learning Cooperative (RLC) has been the best decision ever for my daughter. Traditional public school was causing anxiety and depression. Finding RLC was a blessing! The staff/mentors/volunteers are wonderful! They will help each student learn core subjects in new and interesting ways. They do all they can to provide classes/activities that the students are interested in. My daughter has learned many life skills (cooking, sewing, auto maintenance, etc) that she would not have learned in public school. She has also taken classes in areas she is passionate about (helping the environment and animals), and was introduced to places where she has and does volunteer to help those causes. My child hated school, was depressed and angry. At days end I was met with grunts, grumbles and the dragging of the backpack. Prior to Spring break of 8th grade, she did a drop in day at RLC. At the end of the day I was met with conversation and information about the day, members and staff. My child was walking with a straight back and eyes forward. I knew I needed to take the leap of faith and enroll her at RLC. The last 3 years, though challenging dealing with teenagers normally, have been nothing but growth and interest and engagement! We chose RLC during COVID because as homeschoolers our daughter's social groups had dried up. It was the best decision we made. My daughter made so many friends and had so many wonderful opportunities. She loved RLC and all the mentors. She had an amazing high school experience I don't think she would have gotten anywhere else. Mary Beth & Scott went out of their way to find teachers for all my daughter's passions and supported her in so many ways. Mary Beth, Kaitlyn (the intern) and some of the students drove over an hour on multiple occasions to support Sarah's acting in plays. This was such a wonderful experience for Sarah!
