1 gave 2 stars because my most recent experience isn't what I have experienced as the norm, but it was very disappointing. First, we had to deal with this pungent and very off-putting smell from day 1. I found it strange that a brand new store would smell this way for months 🤔 However, I dealt with it because I was grateful for the new location so close to home. Since, visiting the Florissant I've seen moldy fruits and vegetables and my husband had to return some spoiled seafood purchased that day. Now, my most recent visit actually frustrated me. There were lines around the corner and down the aisle and there was only 1 of the 2 registers open and half of the self-checkouts open. I asked a manager, who was standing near the only employee ringing people out, why this was the case. Keep in mind, I asked only after seeing, no lie, 4 other employees and herself doing "something else ". Her response is what got me. She said that they didn't have enough people to open the other register or additional self-checkout kiosks. PREPOSTEROUS. While waiting and watching in the looooong line, I literally saw an employee in an aisle pulling empty boxes and lining up product. Read moreOverall my experience here at the new aldi has been positive, but today the only cashier working 9/21 at 11:30 rudely yelled repeatedly at me(over/through other customers) to go to an open self check out. Only half were available. The couple in front of me had just gone to one, so I was already checking to see when another would become available. No line behind me. Management should include training on how to properly inform/communicate with customers. I understand they have to raise their voices over the belt/line they're working, but the attitude is absolutely unnecessary and unprofessional. It can't be pleasant being the customer standing in her lane that she's screaming over either. Also, the lighted signs over the lanes are clear, backed against a giant window, which makes it difficult during bright days to see the color of the number, not all lane screens are visible...
